  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I got The Lamb's Supper Saturday and am 46 pages into it. So far it's been typical Hahn-which means easy to read and understand. I do like his style. It is covering some of the same info in the We Worship book I'm also going through via Catholic Homestudy.

Mass first, then Mary next, though I've really no problem with either.

I hear "Hail, Holy Queen" is an amazing book. I haven't had a chance to read it myself yet, but I really really want to and plan on doing so in the near future! Enjoy your books!

I am reading Hail Holy Queen at the moment, it is good and like all of his books, written to be read and understood. Plenty in it but easy to understand.

Lambs Supper really brings the mass to ones heart and opens ones eye to the truth revealed there. :)

Amen! It was a real "eye-opener" as you say. Hail Holy Queen is great too. I love Hahn's writing style. He makes complex theology understandable to the "Average Joe" or "Jane" :)

I also like how he comes from the perspective of a former virulently anti-Catholic, Protestant pastor. He has a full understanding of Reformation theology and knows how those who hate Rome think, he used to spend his life trying to "save" Catholics.

Yes! the first of his books I read was Rome Sweet Home, when I was really just wondering about the Catholic faith, I was amazed and touched by his story, as hard as he tried to he could not find anything to prove Catholicism false. He is a very bright and intelligent person, but I agree he writes in a refreshing and easy style....even I can read and understand him.
I did shed some tears for his wife Kimberley and the struggle she had following him, how hard it must have been for her to let go and let him follow God's leading even though she was not ready then.

When I finished that book I gave it to my husband who is now also a Scott Hahn book fan..

I am halfway through Hail Holy Queen, another awesome book. Mary is always a struggle for a protestant converting, and this book is an excellent one to teach about Mary.

Now there ya go, I could never write a book review at school ;) not bad huh? :p

Menno,

If you want a more academic Hahn book, try Letter and Spirit.

I haven't read Rome, Sweet Home yet, but I have read, the Lamb's Supper, Hail, Holy Queen and Kimberly's Home School book too.

I know that I have read other Hahn's books too.

These books are a blessing and I can highly recommend any of them because they hit home.

Rome Sweet Home was one of the books I read when I was trying to find out what demonination i belonged to...
With that book and the 'Surprised By Truth' series I realised that I had to be in the Catholic church... It was the explanations of the Eucharist that really got me there...
I love Scott Hahn, have you ever listened to any of his tapes/CDs, he is amazing... He knows his stuff...

I loved 'Hail, Holy Queen'!!
and 'First comes love' is great for marriage prep.

I too found this book readily enjoyable and desire to read his other works. Of course I disagreed with 98% rather staunchly but it was extremely fascinating and helpful to aid me in understanding what Rome teaches.
