• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Bah, the only real sport is rock climbing!
Sorry, but with all due respect, I simply have to disagree. Rock climbing isn't a sport. It's just a way of feeling taller than the rock. ;)

Now if you want a real sport, try cycling! *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *wheeze* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *gasp* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* *pedal* ...

... okay, if you don't understand the strategy, I guess it can be a bit boring.

In reality, I'll accept almost anything except golf (GOLF IS NOT A SPORT!), and hunting. Sitting in a tree-stand, waiting for Bambi to walk by and blasting away from 400-yards isn't "sporting" in any sense of the word.

:)

I had to get in on it too. Soccer sucks. Nothing like watching 90+ minutes of ball passing, with the most likely result a nil nil draw.

and Corvax, just was doing the math, 10 a day, might be a little less if the poster is a driveby. :p 10X30 seconds, I'd wager (maybe 15 if grammar is overlooked!) 3, 4 minutes.

I think what really hurts the scientists' credibility is that baseball was even tested for excitement.

Unless, of course, they needed to establish a zero point on the scale, and "watching paint dry" was dismissed for being potentially exciting to Sherwin-Williams employees.

Baseball was S. J. Gould's favorite sport.

It's a bi-level sport. It appeals to intellectuals and to non-intellectuals, but it's too intellectual for the average dumb-ass to enjoy and too dumb for the average smart-ass to enjoy.

Keep in mind that "exciting" was defined by the percent of upsets - unpredictable victories. Soccer definitely takes the cake in that category because the matches tend to be very low-scoring compared to other sports like football, basketball, etc so that it doesn't take much to get the upper hand.
