  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Scientific Noah's flood.

Yes, Christianity provides more answers than any other religions. The best thing is that all those answers are tightly linked together.

No human philosophy can do that.

Well, I'm not sure about that. You see, Thor promised to get rid of all the ice giants, and well, HA! I sure as heckfire don't see any goshdarned ice giant around, do I? Do you? Woowee! I guess that's one problem Thor really DID have the answer for!

Then I must assume that Christianity is almost extinct then; Since Christians are not following the fundamental laws laid down by God then suffice it to say that it is a dead religion.

A few examples being:
We no longer kill disobedient children.
We no longer kill wives found to be not virgins.
We no longer kill witches.
We no longer believe the Earth is the centre of our solar system.
We no longer believe the earth is a flat disk.
We no longer believe whales to be fish and bats fowl.
We accept or charge interest on loans.
etc. Ad infinitum.

There were giants in those days. Even the Bible confirms that. David showed us that it's not very difficult to take out a Giant or a Lion for that matter. Even Daniel spent a night in the Lions den and he did just fine.

You have had a LOT of this explained to you. But you do not seem to want to learn. So it would pretty much be a waste of time to keep on trying to explain what a child can understand.

How much clearer can killing a non virgin wife or killing witches, be? The Bible is very clear on how such women are to be treated. You may spin it all you want but the language is plain enough to stand even in a court of law!

Maybe your explanations would be taken more seriously if you didn't write things like this:

There were giants in those days. Even the Bible confirms that.

As soon as I read something like that I realise the author offers nothing more than amusement value.

One would expect a little better from a perfect all-knowing, all-powerful God. But that is just my impression.

How much better would you expect? I don't see the Christian God could be any better than He is.

How about the layers that have the teeny weeny craters left by raindrops?

How does a layer of silt get raindrop impacts if it is underwater?

How about that it was made right AFTER the Flood?

The Bible describes A LOT of such "bad" things. That is another unique feature of this Christian Scripture. Why don't you ask the reason of preserving those descriptions?

For the simple reason that these laws were meant to be upheld to the fullest and no personal interpretation is allowed:

“For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:18-19 RSV)

That is why there is something called geochemistry in addition to all other chemistry. I don't believe you had geochemistry ever.

For example, how is the water from the midoceanic ridge different from the normal seawater?

Nope, you don't understand. Getting you up to speed would take far more time than would be reasonable on a blog. I would suggest you take some Chemistry courses or even just read something on the subject, but that is probably asking too much.

You see, when you have no idea as to what you are talking about, you come off as silly. Well, even worse than silly. Your statements are nonsense.

You did not answer my question. And you used another verse to enhance the same question:

How could these laws be "accomplished" if they are yet to be done? According to you, they have already be accomplished in an obvious way. What else to be accomplished? To kill more children and women? (if you think about it, Fundamental Muslims are actually doing that to infidels, but Christians do not. Why?)

This question is basically the same as the one you did not answer. (what are these "bad" descriptions preserved in the Scripture?)

Well, forget about it. I thought you might teach me some.

By not adhering to the scriptures you are in essence in violation of the scriptures since Jesus commanded us to not only keep them in their entirety but not to interpret them personally. This he commanded until the end of times.

As for the Muslims they believe exactly the same. In fact they believe that Jesus will make a second coming and resurrect the dead etc just as it is believed in Christianity.

Now instead of avoiding my question why don't you explain to me why you dismiss this commandment by Jesus?

Read the verse; It does not mean the laws have to be accomplished but God's intent is to be accomplished. Until God's work is accomplished he gave us a set of laws to abide by. Perhaps your understanding of the English language is not adequate?

He said neither.

Acts 17:11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day

Luke 12:56 - You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don't know how to interpret this present time? ...

Matthew 5:18 - I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

You need to read the Bible again:

1) “For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:18-19 RSV)

2) "It is easier for Heaven and Earth to pass away than for the smallest part of the letter of the law to become invalid." (Luke 16:17 NAB)

3) "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfil. Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest part or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place." (Matthew 5:17 NAB)

3b) "All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness..." (2 Timothy 3:16 NAB)

3c) "Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation, for no prophecy ever came through human will; but rather human beings moved by the holy Spirit spoke under the influence of God." (2 Peter 20-21 NAB)

4) Jesus criticizes the Jews for not killing their disobedient children according to Old Testament law. Mark.7:9-13 "Whoever curses father or mother shall die" (Mark 7:10 NAB)

5) Jesus is criticized by the Pharisees for not washing his hands before eating. He defends himself by attacking them for not killing disobedient children according to the commandment: “He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.” (Matthew 15:4-7)

6) Peter says that all slaves should “be subject to [their] masters with all fear,” to the bad and cruel as well as the “good and gentle.” This is merely an echo of the same slavery commands in the Old Testament. 1 Peter 2:18

8) “Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law" (John7:19) and “For the law was given by Moses,..." (John 1:17).

9) “...the scripture cannot be broken.” --Jesus Christ, John 10:35

Uh, 'fraid not.

You see, these layers I speak of are in the middle of the layers creationists tell us were laid down by the flood. Flood layers below, flood layers above.

Wow this is all very impressive. People do have a problem to figure out how to apply the law to them and their life today. You make it sound like the Muslims are our best friend. That they are going to clean up all this lawlessness and get us back on track with God.

Teaching is easy, it is the "who does them" part that gives people trouble. Of course the main point: "teaches men so". When you teach people to break the law then you become least in the kingdom of God. So we do have to set a good example for others.
