Cannot prove a negative. There is no evidence other than in teh fertile imaginations of some scientists that there are other universes around!

And this evolutionist says the core spins faster than the arms!

Cosmic Soufflé: The Tricky Art of Spiral Galaxies

He is peer reviewed and published as well! so I guess on your side you can just choose which hypothesis you wish to believe!

Just like it was with biological evolution before they drove other ideas out.

So you just made it up. O.K.

The article doesn't say anything about views on evolution. You just made that up for your story.

At one time, astronomers thought so. On the other hand, as you just learned, actual measurments of rotational speeds of galaxies showed otherwise:
The rotation curve of a galaxy is the variation in the orbital circular velocity of stars or gas clouds at different distances from the center. The manner in which the velocities vary with radius reflects the distribution of mass in the galaxy:

    • A solid disk would rotate such that the velocity increases linearly with radius (velocity proportional to radius.
    • In a galaxy in which most of the mass is concentrated at the center, the velocity decreases with the square root of the radius. Since this is the case in the Solar System, where the planets follow Kepler's laws, this behavior is known as "Keplerian decline".
    • A flat rotation curve, that is, one in which the velocity is constant over some range of radii, implies that the mass is still increasing linearly with radius.

Most galaxies have rotation curves that show solid body rotation in the very center, following by a slowly rising or constant velocity rotation in the outer parts. Very few galaxies show any evidence for Keplerian decline. A flat rotation curve implies that the mass continues to increase linearly with radius. Therefore, the rotation curves of galaxies present strong evidence for dark matter.

On the other hand, when astronomers actually check the rotational velocities, it turns out, he's wrong. So his assumption that galaxies exhibit Keplerian behavior, turned out to be false.

In science, it comes down to evidence. You lose.

Evidence was the key there, too. Creationists tend to regard evidence the way a vampire regards a crucifix. For reasons that you probably understand a lot better, now.

No I did not make it up! but I cannot prove something that is not out there! If you believe that God created one universe and then another- hey if that is what floats your boat!

Well ther are college texts with titles like cosmological evolution and evolutions of stars and planets. So if they can use it- I can as well!

Well your writinig of speeds varying in spiral galaxies is one view out there in evolutionary astronomy!

    These are not YEC scientists!

What process creates and maintains the beautiful spiral arms around spiral galaxies? I've been told that density waves are responsible--so where do the density waves come from?

Once again your answer is just one of at least 2.

I found especially amusing that two PHD's actually wrote that the arms did not consist of matter!

I don't know if I missed it or you diodn't answerr so I will pse this agasin:

How can a galaxy travel 20X the speed of light to reach a point in space time 13.2 billion y8ears ago to shine light we are just seeing. After it had to reach that point in space time in 600,000,000 years .

We kow space is expanding- but even space cannot violate the speed of light! There are hypotheses out there but nothing with real meat to it!

Yep. Nothing at all about evolution in that paper. You just made it up.

If your argument depends on obfuscating biological evolution, with the formation of stars and planets, maybe that's a tip for you.

As you just realized, they've now measured the rotational speeds and they don't vary much by radius. Reality beats anyone's reasoning.

Earth's magnetic poles are always shifting. They are shifting right now.

However the last reversal of poles was nearly 800,000 years ago.

Are you very sure you mean "shifts?"

    Well that is my bad.

After looking back, it was a magnetic superstorm from a massive solar flare in 1859! It cause telegraph lines to short and fires broke out in telegraph offices.

    I apologize for the mixup.

Wasn't the most recent one of those, either.

On March 10, 1989, a CME about the size of 36 Earths erupted from the sun's roiling surface and ripped through space at a million miles (1.6 million kilometers) per hour. Two days later, the torrid gas cloud crashed against Earth's magnetosphere—the magnetic field generated by the planet's spinning molten iron core that helps deflect the solar wind and more potent solar jetsam. This blast from the sun severely disrupted the magnetosphere and set off a geomagnetic superstorm.

As Sten Odenwald, an astrophysicist at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., relates in his book The 23rd Cycle, what ensued was one of the grandest displays of auroras—usually manifested as the aurora borealis (northern lights) or aurora australis (southern lights)—in recent times. Auroras form when Earth's magnetic field funnels highly energetic particles toward the poles where the field emanates. There, the charged particles strike molecules in Earth's atmosphere that release photons of various colors (red hues come from oxygen, for example) and light up polar regions in frequent auroral displays.

But the event of March 13 (the date fell on a Monday that year) was no mere breath of solar wind or a flare that kindled a transient, flickering light show. Undulating, multicolored auroras spread as far south as Texas and Cuba, and a red glow appeared in the night sky over most of the world. Some startled people who had never seen an aurora before even feared that nuclear war had broken out, Odenwald recounts.

Some satellites, the closest to the action, suffered electronic glitches. "That wasn't so much an issue then, as there were far fewer satellites in orbit compared to now," Odenwald says. The space storm's effects extended all the way to Earth's surface and even below it in the form of geomagnetically induced currents (GICs). These electrical surges infiltrated power grids all over North America and northern Europe, and even destroyed a transformer at a nuclear power plant in New Jersey.

Most significantly, at about 2:45 A.M. local time on Monday, March 13, Canada's Hydro-Québec power utility's grid crashed when safety systems sensed a power overload caused by the currents pulsing through the ground. The failure knocked out electricity to six million people in northeastern Canada for as long as nine hours—the biggest outage ever caused by a geomagnetic storm.

What? No no. I'm talking about magnetic reversals, north to south and south to North. Are you aware of the Earth's record of magnetic reversals?

    I don't think he understands.

@nolidad you made a comment regarding the decaying of Earth's magnetic field, or it's gradual alteration. And you spoke of it, as if it served as evidence of a young earth.

" At its current decay rate, for example, Earth’s magnetic field would have run down before 100,000 years...Questions to consider: If Earth is billions of years old, why does it still have a magnetic field? "

What you hadn't acknowledged is that the Earth's magnetic field has "run down" thousands of times before and it flips back and forth between north and south directions over and over and over again.

This is recorded in the Earth's geology.
