Science *AND* a Literal Genesis?

I understand that in the light of scientific discoveries which go contrary to the claims of the Israelites,

I do not know what their claim is but there is no contradiction between Science and the Bible. History ties them together. Bishop Ussher wrote a book about the history we find in our Bible.

I discussed the topic of 6 days of creation with two Jewish scholars. Like myself, they came to conclusion that the translation is incorrect, it was not 6 days but 6 stages of Creation. The 6-day translation tradition goes back to the Talmud with its poorly educated writers who often contradicted one another and had total disregard of scientific data. The data itself was sparse, the science was in its nascent state, so there was plenty of incorrect interpretations of The Old Testament.

People who make the Bible a fetish are blinded to its obvious errors and inconsistencies. It like the reservable of the Flat Earth crowd.

The Bible has many layers of meaning. String theory says up to 12. We tend to deal with three levels of understanding. For example there is the individual, the culture and than all of the human species. Each level or stage is whole yet we are a part of something bigger then themselves.
