  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

So here's a white student who was constantly harassed for being white in a majority black and Hispanic school. He turns to administrators for help, and get none. Worse than that, they remove him from school because he was a "danger to himself and others" and suggest he be medicated.

After he's cleared by a psychiatrist, he requests to be transferred to another district (sounds reasonable) which the school denies because they claimed they would have to do that for every white student (which is ridiculous).

The settlement agreement wasn't disclosed...but let's hope it was for a lot. The school sounds pretty awful and they clearly dropped the ball here.

I notice they settled before any witnesses took the stand too. Sounds like they messed up royally and they know it. They learned their lesson the hard way, and I'm glad this young man followed through for that reason alone.

Yes, this is outrageous. It's equally outrageous when it happens to any minority. Don't you agree? I ask because this is usually the case with blacks -- as 15% of the population nationwide, they are typically the minority getting bullied by the majority. Perhaps you singled out this case because of what an outlier it is, something atypical because of the unique makeup of Brentwood... or perhaps you have another motivation. I don't know you personally, but a person who is simply against "discrimination" wherever it happens (as I am) typically isn't drawn to individual stories but rather the trends. What drew your attention to this particular story?
