There are tons of scholarships available that aren't through a school. I thought it would be good to start a thread of scholarships.

So here are a few to start with. Deadlines coming soon are in pink, and links to the informational pages are through the name.

Name: Collegiate Inventors Competition
Type of Scholarship: Invention (may be team up to 4 people, requires student/advisor)
Deadline for Submission: Assumed 6/1/08 but they haven't posted it yet.
Major: Science, engineering, medicine, mathematics, informations systems, etc.
Amount of scholarship: 2007 was $15,000 to $25,000.

Name: All Ink College Scholarship
Type of Scholarship: Online Essay
Deadline for submission: 12/31/07
Major: Any
Amount of Scholarship: Unknown - $5000 worth of scholarships.

Name: Ray Family Scholarship
Type of Scholarship: Application
Open to graduates of an accredited Indiana high school only.
Deadline for submission: None specified
Major: Any
Amount of Scholarship: Varies

Type of Scholarship: Essay (see if your school qualifies)

Major: female students enrolled in a behavioral, life, physical, or social science or engineering program leading to a Ph.D. degree

Fellowships:

Name: Josephine de Karman Fellowship Trust
Type of Fellowship: Application
Deadline for submission: 1/31/08
Major: Open to any major - student must be entering senior year bachelor and PhD students only (must defend dissertation by June 2008).
Amount of Fellowship: $10,000 undergraduate; $20,000 PhD.
