  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

For @MehGuy.
Man, sometimes I wish I could experience the sense of smell, although at the same time it sounds like intrusive and scary, lol.

How would you guys explain scent to someone who can't smell? What are some things that you are surprised you can smell? What are your favorite and least favorite scents?

Prompting questions:
Fresh air has a smell? What?

Does skin have a smell? What about laptops? Or rocks?
Eww..

Do you smell in your sleep? Do you pretty much smell things 24/7? Can you navigate around the world from smell alone? Lol.

Looked it up and I suffer from Ansoma.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anosmia#Signs_and_symptoms

"Often people who have congenital anosmia report that they pretended to be able to smell as children because they thought that smelling was something that older/mature people could do, or did not understand the concept of smelling but did not want to appear different from others. When children get older, they often realize and report to their parents that they do not actually possess a sense of smell, often to the surprise of their parents."

Weird.. Never really bothered me.

I remember in science class one time we had some bottle that had a horrible odor (I think it was pure pickle juice or something..). Everyone was freaking out about it, but I just too a big whiff and had no reaction and people were amazed. Lol.

Although while that is cool, I don't have a good sense of taste either as a consequence of being unable to smell.

I have Anosmia as well, I never really had a sense of smell at all.

Awesome.

Can you taste food alright?

I remember there was a Corner Gas episode where officer Davis couldn't smell and Brent made an off color joke about people who cannot smell and the whole town got offended at him, lol.

It's like tasting for your nose.

Do people have unique scents?
Detectable by a dog, but not by me. This is assuming the person has showered.

Would you get rid of your sense of smell if you could?
I'd turn it off from time to time. Mostly if I'm in or around the bathroom.

Don't overdo it with the body spray and deodorants and stuff though... those can stink way worse than body odor lol.
I use deodorant, because other people told me too when I was younger. Kinda sucks, because sometimes I worry I might stink, but I'll never know. Lol.

This is honestly one of my constant biggest fears, that I smell bad and don't know.

You guys can make some money on this.

Get in a car with five people you know. Each put 10 bucks on the dash. Now have somebody throw something really stinky in the car and the last to remain gets all the money.

Use one of those stink pellets that some law enforcement use. That stuff can gag a maggot.

Man and women have the same kind of smelling parts and we both smell the odor as the same such as a skunk smells like a skunk to both of us.

But if we both have the same body odor? No, men sweat more so a man is going to perspire more and be more sweaty smelling while a woman should not have as strong as smell.

Women also tend to wear fragrances which make them smell pretty.
