I am into creepy books...sci-fi...mysteries...horror. I like it all! [in one book is good too! ;)] Anway, I like Stephen King, what is the best book/series he's done? I haven't read or watched much of his work. I watched The Secret Window...it was awesome! I absolutely fell in love with the Storm of the Century. I had heard some people say, as I stated in a previous post, that it was evil?!?!?! Well...anyway, I want a book that'll last a while...if I make it!;) However, I want to be very interested in it as a woman of mysteries! ;)

Well...Anyway, if ya know anything, please tell me! :)

House of Leaves is truly terrifying (Mark Z. Danielewski), but also rather sick in parts. It's about a book, written by a man who is blind about a movie that doesn't exist, and it's being editted by a guy whose life is collapsing around him while he is editing the book. It's sick and bizarre, but I truly don't think I've read anything scarier.

I've never really been into scary books. The closest I could recommend is probably Faerie Tale by Raymond E. Feist. Or Shade of the Tree by Piers Anthony. That's actually the only book you'll ever hear me recommend by Piers Anthony. Blah.

Hey Heather,

I too have been really into creepy books. I just finished "Something Wicked This Way Comes" by Bradbury. It wasn't really scary but it was cool. That's not a recommendation but I strongly recommend you not to read House of Leaves. Its complete trash. Sometimes juvenile. I started reading that on a recommendation. Fell instantly in love with the story about the house. It was awesome but the junk that was going on with "the guy editing" the book was disgusting and truly x-rated in some parts. A lot of things don't bother me but as a christian this was just trash. Im not taking anything away from Mark D. cause the idea behind the book is cool.

Also from a different post of yours, if something that is not of God is of the world. Paul said that everything is permissible, but not everything is beneficial. Listen to the Holy Spirit. Sometimes He talks so loud it sounds like a scream but we ignore it because we like to do what we like to do.

This was the way it was with House of Leaves. I was really into the story but the Lord was really telling me to drop the trash. And half way through I did and never felt better the day I took the book back to Barnes and Noble.

Anyways...my recommendation on a Mystery/Freaky/What the heck is going on???/Coolest book you'll ever read is "Black" by Ted Dekker. Its now my ultimate favorite. I didn't think it was possible for a book to not have a slow part. Its in three parts and the third comes out next month. Trust me. You'll love me for this one. Plus its clean and you wont even have to question "Is it okay to be reading this book?"

Sorry for the novel, take care and have fun!

I would have to have to recommend It by Stephen King. That book really creeped me out because I haven't looked at clowns the same way since I read it. Another good creepy one is the Flowerr in the Attic series by V.C Andrews. I quit eating white powdered doughnuts after reading it.

I would suggest any collection of short stories by H.P. Lovecraft; some weird and creepy stuff! As far as longer works go, my favorite horror novel would probaby be The Great and Secret Show by Clive Barker...

Stephen King's "The Stand" is really good. I think I have read all of his books except for some of the short story collections. Also, if you like Stephen King you will love Dean Koontz. I've read most of his too. Some of his that are my favorites are: "The Face", "By the Light of the Moon", "From the corner of His Eye", "Seize the Night", "Watcher", "Strangers", etc...too many to list!. ;) Clive Barker's and Peter Straub"s books are pretty good but not as good as King and Koontz. I also recommend "The Intruder" by Peter Blauner.
