  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Is it normal, i'll be honest there are times when i get scared. Not so much recently since i started reading the bible.

I would say it's normal, but I'm wondering if you are misplacing the feeling of apprehension with the feeling of being scared. I certainly believe God knows and understands our apprehension regarding death. God has not given us a spirit of fear, so that's why I'm wondering if you are really feeling fear or just normal apprehension.

2 Ti 1:7
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

What is the reason for this?

If you have doubts, those only come from one source and it isn't from God. Give those feelings over to the Lord, just as you would anything else, ask for the Holy Spirit to be with you and instantly those feelings will begin to disipate.

I've asked for forgiveness from God and i've forgiven myself.

And God knows this. He knows your heart.

Is it lack of faith or just me still not being fully ready to meet God?

Could be a little of both, but nothing to worry over. When you pray just say, "Father, you know my heart and you know my thoughts. You know what I been thinking lately about death and dying. Take this burden from me and enter into me through the Holy Spirit a spirit of peace and comfort where I know everything you promised will come to pass."

Hope that helps.

Seek God with all your heart, he knows our weakness ask him to change everything in you that isn't right. God loves you :) And is not willing that you perish!

Does the fear cause you to examine your heart and seek for God? if that's the case maybe God is trying to draw you close to him.

I think that the fear of the unknown is something that is hard for us and just like soldiers who first see death we dont know how we will react. When some loved ones that were close to me where nearing the end of their lives I was gripped by a strange sense of 'paralysis' or 'numbness' from this life/death state of limbo which I can only describe as fear of encrouching death....

We have to look to God to give us the answers as death is just strange and unnatural for man and somehow we seem to sense it...

The Resurrection Body
35But someone may ask, "How are the dead raised? With what kind of body will they come?" 36How foolish! What you sow does not come to life unless it dies. 37When you sow, you do not plant the body that will be, but just a seed, perhaps of wheat or of something else. 38But God gives it a body as he has determined, and to each kind of seed he gives its own body. 39All flesh is not the same: Men have one kind of flesh, animals have another, birds another and fish another. 40There are also heavenly bodies and there are earthly bodies; but the splendor of the heavenly bodies is one kind, and the splendor of the earthly bodies is another. 41The sun has one kind of splendor, the moon another and the stars another; and star differs from star in splendor.
42So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body.
If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body. 45So it is written: "The first man Adam became a living being"[e]; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. 46The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual. 47The first man was of the dust of the earth, the second man from heaven. 48As was the earthly man, so are those who are of the earth; and as is the man from heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. 49And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we[f] bear the likeness of the man from heaven.

50I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. 51Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed— 52in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed. 53For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. 54When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory."[g]
55"Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?"[h] 56The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

58Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. 1 Corinthians 15:35-58

I think the fear of dying comes from fear of the PAIN (if there is any) and of course none of us here have ever experienced the type of pain that would cause you to die...so it is fear of the unknown, like Red mentioned.

I fear leaving my children behind, and mostly I fear NOT dying if I'm in a horrible car accident or something. I've seen the aftermath of people that struggle to hold on through immense pain, and of people that have been crippled or disfigured for life.

So I'm really not afraid of dying, I'm afraid of the type of pain that must be associated with it, and that my children will have to grow up without a mom...that sort of thing.

I'm ready to meet Jesus, that's for sure! In the wink of an eye. :)

I don't have a fear of death itself, I don't think. I do have a fear or apprehension abour the process of death.

I have been a nurse a long time (about 20 yrs), and I have seen a lot of people die. Some die quickly, which I think is a blessing in itself. Some take days or longer.
Some just go to sleep and don't wake up. I've seen non-believers die with such fear in their eyes, you can almost feel it in the room. It is such a pitiful look of fear or dread. I don't like it. My co-workers and I have talked about the difference betw. a born again Christian and a Catholic. The way they seem to handle death is so different.

I don't like caring for those that take days or longer to die. It's alot of suffering, and the family is so sad. I often pray that I will just go to sleep when it is my time and not wake up.

Not so much as I used to be. I am no longer SDA and believe that when I die my soul will go to be with Y'shua awaiting His return when He will bring it back with Him and reunite it with a new, glorified body.

When I was SDA I was TERRIFIED of death. I really believed that I probably had NO CHANCE of an afterlife, I COULD NOT pass the Investigative Judgement and G-d would annhilate me and that would be it.

Shalom,

Lebesgue

No offense, but this thread from the OP wasn't about you or your feelings, or your theology but seemed to be an effort in trying to find some sense and a way to provide comfort and understanding for a difficult subject.

Again, I would ask you to examine the rules of the forum and try to understand that you are welcome to discuss and debate any topic you wish in that section but in the Main forum and Traditional forum you are not.

Thanks for your understanding.

Thank you very much for that and to everyone that took the time to give me some advice.

reddogs mention something about the unknown, i think that's what it is for me. i guess if you are ready to meet God then death won't really bother you.

it's my personality too, i have to change. i'm the kind of person who easily get stress. i easily worry even with small problems, maybe it's because of the environment when i was a kid. my mom worries a lot.

i will pray for something and then after a few hours here i am thinking about it. i need to learn to ask God for help and have faith that he will do what's best for me. that is one of my weaknesses.

satan see how we act and that's how he attack our weakness. my question is can satan read what's on your mind? can he see or know what's in your heart?

Hi RnM

The bible teaches that when we repent and turn away from our sins, we are forgiven. We are at this point fully justified. And the bible talks about dying and taking up the cross daily. This speaks about being justified every day.

When you repent your sins, Christ's righteousness is imputed to you for justification. When you allow Him to work in you to change you, Christ's righteousness is imparted to you for sanctification.

We don't believe the bible teaches that once saved always saved. But if you are following the will of God, you are secure in the hands of the LORD. And He is the author and the finisher of your faith. So you should have complete assurance/security of your salvation as long as you remain in Him, He will remain in you.

Maybe The LORD is telling you you still have kept something that have caused the fear. Christ gave up Himself completely and willingly. We should all strive to emulate Him.

Here are some scriptures for your comfort.

Phillipians 1
20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

2 Tim 4
6 For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
