  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I have a friend who I'm afraid is falling into the clutches of drug addiction. I've been talking with her a lot lately, and I can feel that she needs God in her life. She is in a Jewish family, but I know she doesn't take her religion very seriously. I pray constantly for God to enter her life, but in the end I know it will probably have to be me who makes the introduction, and so I ask for prayers giving me the courage to show her my beliefs, and hopefully take her on the right path.

Hi,

This so often happens to precious souls who are seeking meaning, fulfillment and satsifaction in their life.
But all drugs do, as we know is fail to fill that empty gap that only Jesus can fill completely.

I will certainly be praying for your friend's salvation. It could be that she has forsaken the way of her familys jewish beliefs because she finds no purpose in them and they don't meet her needs. And so has come to the conclusion that maybe all religions are like that and turned to drugs as an alternative.

However, we know One who is much greater than the enemy who would seek to sidetrack her in this way. It is God's will that she is saved and comes to a knowledge of the truth. That she does not perish but receives eternal life through Jesus.

So I will pray that God gives you wisdom and opportunities to share the reason why we have this hope and that the Holy Spirit will draw her to Jesus. For her to be delivered from all drug addiction and find salvation in Him. :)

Grace & Peace to you both,
Gentle-Heart

I am so happy. I talked to her tonight, and told her what I believe, and she told me she completely appreciated my telling her. I told her I don't do drugs because I believe Jesus died for us, and when I listen to God saying "I love you," they are the happiest moments of my life. This happiness is so great that I don't need drugs or anything else like that to make me happy. She said she couldn't find the happiness in her life right now, but she'd take it into consideration. Praise the Lord for this progress. I just know that with this little foothold, he will start to transform her life. Thank you all for your prayers!
