Seeing that this thread is becoming fast unchristanlike and name throwing is rampant and wavered off from the original intent of the author I will close this until cooler heads will prevail.
And BTW surely you would care to concede that the Catholic Church came up with a few fubar doctrines in the past.
For example, care to explain why the Popes in Medieval times authorized torture?

torture was not regarded as a mode of punishment, but purely as a means of eliciting the truth...It was first authorized by Innocent IV in the Papal Decree "Ad exstirpanda" of 15 May, 1252, which was confirmed by Alexander IV on 30 November, 1259, and by Clement IV on 3 November, 1265.
