Dear friends, greetings in the blessed Name of our Lord Jesus. It’s good to be back with all of you 
and I trust that the Lord has been richly blessing you spiritually and materially. All of us understand the power of words. Positive words can uplift people while derogatory or negative remarks can destroy a soul. But today I want for us to focus on something even more profound, i.e., the creative Power of God flowing through our words. As Christians the words that we speak don’t merely have a healing or ameliorating effect (Ephesians 4:9), they carry the Omnipotent Power of God that created and will ultimately destroy this present universe (Genesis 1:3, 6, 9, 14, 20, 24, 28, 29; 2 Peter 3:7-10).
Please turn with me to Ezekiel 37:1-14. This is the well known passage of the “Valley of Dry Bones.” These bones were most likely those of all the deceased Israelites who fell during the many battles that Israel fought in the past. The bones were literally bone dry (Ezekiel 37:2) and caused even the man of God to doubt if life could be created from them (Ezekiel 37:3). The subsequent narrative is a testament to the Power of God’s creative ability flowing through the Prophet’s words. Ezekiel 37:4-10 describes how the Prophet’s words created a vast army from those dry bones. This is stuff that sci-fi movies are made of. But for us saints it should be a routine matter. The reason we’re unable to exercise this Power and Authority of God is that we’re either selfish (James 4:3) or lack spiritual discipline (Matthew 17:18-21, Mark 9:28-29). If we fail in exercising this Power and Authority of God, we’ll have to answer to the Lord Jesus on judgment day (2 Corinthians 5:10) for our weak and ineffective performance on this earth. Although our souls are saved from damnation, we’ll lose our reward and escape damnation just barely (1 Corinthians 3:14-15).
When God Almighty spoke to His Prophets of old, He spoke to them in visions and dreams. But the Lord often spoke to His Prophets in words (Isaiah 38:4, Jeremiah 1:4). That’s how the Lord speaks to us, in words. When we read the Bible some words jump out and grab our attention. No sooner do we yield to the Holy Spirit than His quickening life is imparted to us and the Word of God becomes flesh in us and empowers us (John 1:14, John 1:1). God’s Word is backed by His eternal promise and His Omnipotence and will accomplish His purposes (Isaiah 55:11). It’s similar to (but infinitely more than) a dollar bill which is backed by the Federal Reserve which promises to pay the bearer the value printed on the currency note. However, this Power of God has to be exercised with much reverence and humility else we’ll invoke the wrath of a Holy God. In Numbers 20 we’re told about how the Israelites complained due to lack of water. God Almighty then instructed Moses to speak to the rock before him and that water would gush out (Numbers 20:7-8). However, Moses disobeyed the Lord and struck the rock with his staff (Numbers 20:11). But God was offended by Moses’ irreverent behavior and banished him from the Promised Land (Numbers 20:12). What Moses didn’t realize was that the rock was the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 10:4). The Power of God can only be invoked with the Word of God and not by brute force (Zechariah 4:6).
It’s time that we as saints and the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ realized the Omnipotence of God that emanates from the words of a saint and used it to build God’s kingdom. Amen.
