• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yesterday, when I was walking across a bridge that has a footpath and a rail line running parallel to each other when I saw that a train had stopped. As I got closer, the woman driving the train leaned out and said 'Just so you know, there is a man under the train. You can still go, but I'm just warning you'.

It sounds stupid now, but I assumed that she meant a mechanic, because I thought that when accidents occured people were stopped from walking where they could see it immediately, so I walked on.

Without going into too much detail, the man under the train was definately, definately dead, and had just done so in a really horrible way. :(

This thread is mostly to rant, if I'm honest, but anything you might be able to recommend to help would be really, really helpful. I've already prayed about it and it did help a lot, but I'm still really quite spooked (hense sitting up at about one in the morning typing this now...).

How terrible for you. I can imagine that it's a hard image to get out of your head. I would guess that since she was trying to warn you - maybe emergency personnel were not yet at the scene but had been called. It doesn't sound stupid you wouldn't expect to see someone dead under the train. I think she probably didn't know how to say that the man had been run over by the train - she may have been in shock herself. I will pray that the Lord will wipe this memory away for you. :prayer: If it doesn't fade you might consider seeing a counselor - you may have some effects of post-traumatic stress disorder.

What you experienced is quite terrible for anyone to see. You are doing the healthiest thing in ranting about it here. I suggest you also talk about it with trusted family and friends. Vent and get it out of your system. Explore your feelings about death in general and then about the tragic way in which this person died. At 17, you probably have not been exposed to a lot of the life experiences that people who are older might.

You may feel like crying, and that would be normal. You may also become curious about the person who died, and that would be normal as well.

If you need to PM me, feel free to do so.

Hugs,
Trish

*hug* Talk to whomever you can. Ranting in any form is good in situations like this, because it helps to alleviate a lot of the issue surrounding such horrible things as this.
