I don't drive (don't like it and don't see the point) and pretty much walk everywhere. Its nice getting the fresh air and exercise.

I cant think of much entertainment that we do that costs money to be honest. We eat out but not that often and the rest of the time going out means visiting friends.

Where I live, it is difficult to walk to many places because there are not many sidewalks. I live in a subdivision with sidewalks, but once you get out of the subdivision, it is all roads and ditches. Not really walker-friendly. I am about 30 mins away from downtown where all the shops and things to do are. So we pretty much have to drive to everything. Sometimes we will park and walk somewhere. Maybe one day we might move somewhere more walker-friendly, I would like to live closer to downtown, except that there is more crime there and I'm paranoid. Everything costs more there, too.

We do a lot of things at home. BBQ, watch movies, play games, sing karaoke on our home system. There is a dog park not too far away where we'll go with the pup sometimes, and the beach is about a 15 minute drive so that's not too bad, but we don't go often (not because of gas, we just don't go often...)

15 mins from the beach? I'm jealous (LOL!)

I just remembered a park about 5 mins away that has a lake and riding stables. Maybe DH and I will do a picnic and walk there this weekend.

We either walk or bike most places if we want to go out. We also do most things at home or at friends houses. Just more fun for us. We spend a good amount of time at the park, but once we are in our new house we will have a yard of our own to play in.

For entertainment we ride our bikes to a local nature center that is 3 miles down the road. From there we fish, hike and mountain bike. We've started to watch more movies again. Works for us since it has been about 3 years since we've really watched movies. Lots to catch up on. We have also been reading as a family. Currently we are working through the Narnia books.

Errand wise, I have something like this on order.

My backpack just isn't comfy when I get milk.

We've also started to purchase more and more online from places that offer free shipping. This is mostly done for our vitamins, toiletries and some of my daughters' specialty foods.

I really should appreciate it more, but it's hard when everything is so expensive and there's no one to go to the beach with. But yeah, it really is nice, and I should go more.
Sheesh if only we had moved to San Diego- I'd go with you in a heart beat (that is if you could stand the sight of my blaring white legs who haven't seen the light of day in probably 5 years)

That would have been awesome. With your blaring white legs and my neon-glowing white everything, we'd have been a sight ^_^

Well, my wife switched to a new soccer league which plays at fields that are only 6 blocks from our house. With the limited parking they have it's just easier to walk over there anyway. That had more to do with them offering better game dates and times than gas to be honest. We've been hitting more local places instead of driving to favorite spots all the time, that's been a mixed bag. Though I'm glad we know more local spots for times when we don't feel like driving.

Where are some good sites for this?

I'd love to walk or bike everywhere and pick up one or two days worth of food at each outing (like in the movies). But living in the country, and a cold climate, that's just not an option - have to drive everywhere.

What do you do for entertainment or other (like errands and such) that cuts down or eliminiates driving?

We spend a lot of time doing things at home like renting movies or having a cook-out. Now that the weather is warmer, our family likes to play poker out on the deck. I like to organize my home, surf the 'net, knit. I actually had to cut back on my knitting meet-ups to once a month because our meet-up location is about twenty miles from where I live. We really have to be careful, since my husband's place of work is thirty miles away.

Thats a good idea!

We've been going out and eating out less and just hanging out at home. We both commute so gas is gonna kill us for awhile. DH is going to start looking for a job he can bike to soon.

We live in the country as well, and both have different work hours so even carpooling together just does not work! One thing we've done to cut down on weekend trips was to finally fulfill a lifelong dream of mine and purchase one of those above ground swimming pools to enjoy this summer. (If it ever warms up again! :) Yes, it's relatively expensive, but lightyears cheaper than a summer cabin on the lake! (which I've also dreamed of forever!)
