We are all saved by how we respond to light. Light comes to the world from God in small amounts until the time comes where the fullness of light is able to be handled. Abraham believed and was faithful to the amount of light he received. He didn't have all the light we have today but what he did have he was faithful to.
Today we have much light. Faithfulness to the light makes us holy like God because God is light. Light is truth revealed. The Ten Commandments on stone are more light and perfect light but they are incomplete light.
Why is this?
Because God is light but He is also love. The Ten Commandments teach us righteousness which is one side of God but they also teach us love, which is the other side of God. In Christ we have both sides of God. Jesus is the perfect light that has come into the world. He reveals both the righteousness of God seen in His Law and the spirit or purpose of the Law, which seen in the love of God. We need to walk in the light that Jesus gave us. Abraham didn't have this much light, but we do. Some of the things Abraham did in the light he had we would never think of doing in the light we have today. The indwelling Spirit of God will blend together within us both the righteousness of God and the love of God.
Jesus is the end of the Law as a means to attain right standing with God but He is not the end of the Law as a means to express godly love. True love has to be %100 free to express itself or it's not true love. The light we have today must be received by faith and obeyed through love, just like Abraham did.
Galatians 5:6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.
Faith working through love is defined by God's Law.
1 Corinthians 7:19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God is what matters.
