I've read the article a couple times but not understanding in the least bit what it is all about..

Looks like the FCC wants to restrict which firmware people can install on their own hardware. This bothers me, since I am a fan of open source router firmware.

I've read the article a couple times but not understanding in the least bit what it is all about..

That hackaday site looks like one your Uncle Sam told you to stay away from when you were kids.
Like a conspiracy under every rug.
I couldn't find the article on wifi; maybe cause it was a week old.

For matters like this, if the Electronic Frontier Foundation doesn't issue a press release on it, then I wouldn't give it any credibility whatsoever.

Despite that article name-dropping the EFF, I could find no evidence of their making any statement on this at all, which leads me to believe it's just paranoid whinging.
