Satan, courageous or a coward?

Satan is the author of lies, murder and cowardice... but is he courageous or a coward? This understanding that picking on someone smaller than yourself takes no courage.

Satan goes around roaring like a raging lion in search of whom he may devour, and yet he is a serpent.

He is afraid of judgement and God trembling in fear.

Are smaller demons afraid of us, if we have and use the finger of God, Jesus' name?

More of a bully than anything else and certainly not afraid of us. They know they can beat us, hey have proven history of that, it is our trust and total dependency on Jesus that causes them to tremble.
To tremble and hang around waiting for us to relax, drop our guard so they can get at us.

Right on, John! Scripture shows Satan is powerful (a fallen Angel who was originally given a high place in Heaven); and when God put him to a test with freedom God well knew what he would do ---assert self. He was allowed thus to test man (as God's Word teaches us). The creation story shows how our God wanted his children to learn to honor, obey, and yield to their Creator ---as any father would do for their safety and good. Satan represented freedom to do things by choice ---a mercy afforded us. We have much to learn.

Today man can choose to come to God or not. God calls His children to Himself, and some come, and others listen to the 'deceiver'. Thankfully our God is a "heavenly Father" who is ever ready to save and bless rebellious souls who will yield to the Father ---and that through God's heavenly Son: our Lord Jesus, the Christ of God.

    BOLD LETTERS ABOVE MY DOING.

1watchman, That phrase instantly made me think of Pro-CHOICE and what is behind that.

Yes, we have choice, and yet God well knows what we will do. Our God ALWAYS knows the end from the beginning, and what you and I will do. We have an amazing God who gives us freedom and knows by "foreknowledge"; and that we are thus "chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world" (speaking of "election"). It is beyond all simple children to know what the father will and can do. We must not allow thoughts (as some people do) that our Creator is limited. We have choices (thank God) and that is also why God tells us of the end of the "end times". I think some seeking Christians have a too little god in their mind ---would you say? You might like to raise such questions also at the Biblecounsel.net site, which I find helpful.

"That reminds me of Mile Warnke's "Hey Doc!" story. At one point a platoon of Marines in Viet Nam, including Mike Warnke, which had been under a hard march (advancement) under very hot conditions, with full combat pack and gear, took a reprieve in a cool, shaded area with a cool stream through it. He had his boots off soothing foot blisters in the stream and was just zoned out in comfort and rest, his body relieved of the humongous weight of the gear (which included a two-person amount of a three-person mortar team as one had been shot) all out of reach. Then it occurred to him, "what if the Viet Cong came over that knoll and attacked?"

Its written demons also believe, and shudder. Does Satan? NOT to give him any glory but.. no I don't believe so. He was one of if not the highest angel. Praise GOD they do not ever show up. For we would be scared. We could say in JESUS name all we want.. they would not budge. Everything God gave them when He made them.. they still have.

If ANYONE knows their rights and authority its Satan and those fallen angels. Remember Job? Satan talked with GOD.. not sacred one bit. Satan tempted Christ. Not scared one bit. When Daniel prayed God answered when he prayed but Gab had to call on Michael to help.

I resubmit, James 4:7, ESV: "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you."

The devil is satan. God's Word assures us that satan WILL run in fear from us (flee= "to escape by running away, especially because of danger or fear" pasted from: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/flee.) Just like with Jesus and the Father and a saved believer in submission to God.

By the way, Blade, being tempted is NOT a sin. Deciding to allow temptation to have control and giving up is sin.

And in Revelation Satan confronts the two witnesses. Later Michael throws him into Hell.

God allows satan the power he has. In Job, for ex, God sets the controlling parameters over what satan can and cannot do. God is an unimaginably loving and gracious being and we cannot understand it fully. Turn our cheek to one who has just hit us? Pray for those who spitefully and cruelly abuse us? Forgive a father who was a raping monster to his daughter from age three and tore her up so bad inside that she was told by her gynecologist she would not be able to have babies due to the scar tissue lining her womb not to mention all of the psychological trauma to overcome which is destroying her relationships and PTSD; a lifetime of counseling?

Do you remember the curse God placed upon satan after Adam and Eve gave in to his temptation? Ge 3:14-15 NIV: "So the Lord God said to the serpent, “Because you have done this,
“Cursed are you above all livestock
    and all wild animals!
You will crawl on your belly
    and you will eat dust
all the days of your life.
    And I will put enmity
    between you and the woman,
    and between your offspring and hers;
    he will crush your head,
and you will strike his heel.”"
