God Sanctifies Jesus
Joh 10:33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone you (Jesus); but for blasphemy; and because that you, being a man, make yourself God. The Brethren of Jesus Sanctified

Faith in Jesus brings Sanctification

Gentile Sanctified by Holy Ghost
Rom 15:16 That I (Paul) be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

Christians Sanctified in Jesus
1Co 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be (Christian) saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:



God made Sanctification and Gave It to Christians

Christians are Sanctified
1Co 6:9 Know you not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? God's Will is Christian Sanctification
1Th 4:3 For this is the will of God, even your (Christians) sanctification, that you should abstain from fornication (sex before marriage): 1Th 4:4 That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel (physical) in sanctification and honor;

Christian Salvation, Truth, and Sanctification
2Th 2:13 But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you (Christian), brethren beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:

Food Choice is Sanctified

Purged, Sanctified, and for God's Use
2Ti 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure, having this seal, The Lord knows them (Christians) that are his. And, Let every one (Christians) that names the name of Christ depart from iniquity. 2Ti 2:20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honor, and some to dishonor. 2Ti 2:21 If a man therefore purge (get rid of) himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work. 2Ti 2:22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Jesus Sanctifies Christians
Heb 2:9 But we (Christians) see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. Christians are Sanctified by the Holy Spirit
1Pe 1:2 (Christians) Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you (Christians), and peace, be multiplied. 1Pe 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy has begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 1Pe 1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fades not away, reserved in heaven for you, 1Pe 1:5 Who (Christians) are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Christians Sanctified by God the Father
Jud 1:1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them (Christians) that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:

Sanctification = The act of making holy. In an evangelical sense, the act of God's grace by which the affections of men are purified or alienated from sin and the world, and exalted to a supreme love to God.
Well, "holy" has to do with how God is in His love. Humans can love, but the spiritual quality of human love is not good like God in His love. Humans can be weak so hard things can get to us and degrade us into anger and fear and lusts and unforgiveness. But God can not change; so His love is stable, no matter what evil might do. And He changes us to become holy in love . . . how His love is . . . so our character is stable and strong in Jesus >

"Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world." (1 John 4:17)

Part of being "as He is" "in this world" is what Peter talks about >

"rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God." (1 Peter 3:4)

This beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit is > "incorruptible". So, no evil spiritual thing can degrade this, because if it is "incorruptible", there is God's almighty power keeping His gentle and quiet love from being corrupted by anger or unforgiveness or fear or lusts dominating someone for pleasure. And God's all-loving love makes us also all-loving in our character, and about family caring and sharing with our Christian brothers and sisters.

So, "holy" has much to do with how our Creator is in His character, and how He in us shares this with us.

And I will offer that this is what Hebrews 12:4-14 is talking about. God's correction is not only punishment and controlling us to stop doing wrong things. But Biblical correction is correcting our character so we are and love like Jesus and are pleasing to our Father like Jesus is so pleasing. This is not only about how we are acting, then, but how we become in our character.

In God's all-loving character, we love any and all people > we do not pick and choose who is worth loving, whom we can use, and who is good enough for us to forgive. Jesus says > "if you love those who love you, what reward have you?" in Matthew 5:46.

And in God's love, we share with Him in His immunity almighty against any and all cruel and dominating emotions >

"There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment." (in 1 John 4:18)

Fear has various sorts of "torment", including frustration, depression, boredom, loneliness, nasty anger, arguing, complaining . . .

But in God's love we have automatic immunity almighty against such unholy things . . . also against dominating drives and preferences for foolish pleasure. God's love makes us so we can not be brought under the power of wrong stuff in us > Paul says, in 1 Corinthians 6:12, "I will not be brought under the power of any."

So, holiness is a good thing to have now. With Jesus, in loving any and all people, "you will find rest for your souls." (in Matthew 11:28-30) But in weak favoritistic love for only our favorite people and country and politicians . . . we can become victims of our own anger and frustration and hurts and unforgiveness . . . and blaming humans instead of claiming all we can have with God in His holy love.

So, we are wise to actively seek our Father for His real correction, "that we may be partakers of His holiness" (Hebrews 12:4-14).
