It's not up to us to decide who is or isn't following Christ though... Just make sure you are following!
So what is this supposed to mean then?
Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
(Mat 7:20)
I think I understand what capnator meant. You will know people by their fruits, but that doesnt mean we should make it our business to label everyone as being a true believer or not. First priority is to worry about your own walk with the Lord before trying to worry about others' walks.
In the PM I differentiated between you (personally) and the institution (corporately). If you (personally) believe in Jesus alone for salvation, then we're on the same team. That's the problem, you don't think we believe in Jesus alone for salvation.
If you do, your perspective changed since the PM, which is good.

I accept it fully and completely. I believe the Lamb was/is worthy and that his promise of living IN us (God Himself living IN us) is true.My question is...
If you do not accept the testimony of Christ that He gives you here on earth, how can you say you believe....
I can't really answer this without getting reported for something. Trying to keep things to 'fellowship' and finding the points we can agree on.But you believe that the church I WILLFULLY joined teaches salvation through works. Right?
Jesus is not just our Savior, Free. He's also our LORD. When He said "whosoever believeth in Me...." we have to listen.
He taught a lot of things on this earth and I believe every word of it. HE told us to love God with all our hearts, and soul and might (which came straight from Deut 6:2-5), HE also told us to love our neighbors as ourselves (which came straight from Lev 19:18 & 34).
He told us to obey the will of His Father, our God and His God.
Abraham obeyed through faith and so do we. We aren't trying to "earn" anything....we already inherited the promise through faith.
The irony here is that it's you asking the question, when in essence it's you that has always said we're NOT on the same team.
Those that work iniquity (sin) are not known to Him even though they worship Him in vain.
You asked a question you already know the answer to. Why?
I accept it fully and completely. I believe the Lamb was/is worthy and that his promise of living IN us (God Himself living IN us) is true.

I "accept the testimony of Christ that He gives you here on earth". I don't believe I am allowed to discuss what that is exactly, so I'll leave it at affirming your statement I quoted here.So you accept fundimental belief #18...?
18. The Gift of Prophecy:
One of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. This gift is an identifying mark of the remnant church and was manifested in the ministry of Ellen. G. White . As the Lord's messenger, her writings are a continuing and authoritative source of truth which provide for the church comfort, guidance, instruction, and correction. They also make clear that the Bible is the standard by which all teaching and experience must be tested. (Joel 2:28, 29; Acts 2:14-21; Heb. 1:1-3; Rev. 12:17; 19:10.)

The only problem I have with this is it implies that the SDA church is THE church with the authority to say what is or is not Christ's testimony here on earth. I mean, I am an SDA and always will be. I read EGW too. It's nothing against her or the SDa church, but I feel uncomfortable with the phrasing "authoritative source of truth," in reference to EGW. I thought that was reserved only for the Bible.![]()
Yes, but if you read what she writes and then come up that it goes against God, then the person is not being honest and has a agenda. As clearly what she writes is Christ-centered and leads you to Christ, not away.
Yes, I agree.
I've just observed though, that saying things like that to non-SDAs is a huge turnoff.
Am I allowed to reference and quote her writings here? If not, then we should probably stick with points we can agree on.Yes, but if you read what she writes and then come up that it goes against God, then the person is not being honest and has a agenda. I'm not understanding what John's writings have to do with FB #18. Are you saying John made reference to it in his writings? But this is what seperates us when it comes to accepting the testimony of Christ, as John in Revelation clearly accepted what Christ had to say as testimony even after He ascended back to heaven and no longer walked on earth...

I accept that the testimony of Jesus IS the spirit of prophecy.
