  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

My actual standpoint on the matter? I personally think the government should refuse to hand out any more marriages. The government should take them from the domain of the government, and release them to other organizations. The government should offer a "civil union" with similiar legal function to a marriage that is available to all. Marriage on the other hand would become the sole domain of the Church, where it belongs.

which church? The chirstian church?
Whichever organizations choose to adminsister the sacrament. There should be no government regulation over this, and any organizations that wish to administer it should be allowed to. As a Christian, if I believe that marriage is ordained by God, then I can look at all those people who get married by some organization akin to the ACLU, and knowing that they aren't married by God, I never have to personally believe them married.

Marriage would become entirely a sacrement, and would have no legal status.

I would support civil unions giving gays all the rights of heterosexual marriage couples. but marriage should only be between a man and a woman. jmho
How about giving everybody "civil unions" giving everybody all the rights of what is currently a "marriage". The government stops ordaining marriage, and independent, non-governmental organizations such as churches would ordain marriage on their own.

In all truth, the government should not be recognizing the fact that a person is a man, a woman, or whether this marriage is traditional or non-traditional.

Same sex marriage does happen and happens often…it is just not legally recognized in most states.

I have been married to Alex for eight and a half years now…the only thing we lack is the marriage certificate and a rather long list of civil rights and legal protections marriage provides.

Yeah let them marry.
It's a personal matter and should be considered a free right.
I really like Pinatas approach.
Let the Government handle civil unions and make them 100% equal. Call them Civil Marriages if you like.
Let Churches or any other club issue marriages which are equal to civil union.
They can refuse whoever they like. It will be amusing but fair.

Groups like the Elks and the VFW can pick up a little extra cash marrying people.
Heck I'd let Walmart and Sams Club do it, you know you would get a good deal.

Gay marriage should not be allowed legally, but I am only speaking from a spiritual point of view. I see no secular argument against it. I am not in favor of it, but see no way to prevent it as long as church and state are seperate. In my opinion being gay is just an obstacle that God would like people to overcome. I don't mean by becoming ungay, but it is a desire. we all have desires that we must supress. Some stronger than others, but as christians it is our job to supress these desires, They are put there by Satan, and God would want us to push them away. If we ask for his help he will give it. this ability to supress desires is part of what seperates us from the animals. God gave this gift to us.
