  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why, oh Why is most CCM the same old 4/4 - "four on the floor" rock beat with the snare on 2 and 4 and the kick on 1 and 3, with an 8th note pattern on the hats or ride? Or a slight moderation thereof?

It seems most CCM is full-throttle common time (4/4) with the same old rehashed Christian lyrics.

Why aren't the "stars" of CCM striving for more cutting edge music, like, 6/8, 5/4, 9/8 with a Jazz feel, or heck, even good old 12 bar Blues or Spiritual?

It pains me everytime I have to play, MOST CCM songs are the carbon copy of the song right before it.

Or better yet, some knucklehead took "Amazing Grace" - a sacred hymn several hundred years old, and fit it into a rock beat. What's up with that!? Is it all to appeal to a "younger" generation of worshipers?

After playing in p and w bands for over 5 years, it's a bit disturbing to realize the genre hasn't moved forward one bit. What someone wrote 5 years ago sounds the exact same as someone writing now. There is no innovation, no improvisation, etc.

It's like the Waylon Jennings' hit "It's the same old song, fiddle and guitar, where do we take it from here...."
