  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ok, and I was thinking he shed his blood for the remission of our past sins, then whatever we do after we are born agian we will be judged for...or something like that. I've been taught since I started going to church routinely, that we have to repent of our sins routinely, or when we sin so we won't be judged for them
But I want to believe other wise, that his grace and his blood was enough..for everything. So I'm not always wondering if I'm saved or not or wondering if I'm going to be forgiven all the time for my sins or always trying to be good enough....
Hello again Justin, we ask God to forgive us whenever we sin as Christians, even though our sins were all paid for by Jesus’ blood at the Cross. The Apostle John tells us what we need to do in 1 John 1:9, so just follow his instructions and you’ll be fine :)

but if we are forgiven of all of our sins why do we need to confess them to be forgiven? Jesus's blood or Jesus's blood + works?

Are we forgiven for past, present and future sins? If so why does this verse say past? Romans 3:25 (KJV) Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
How many of your sins were past when the Lord Jesus shed His precious blood? Ephesians 1:7 "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace......."

We are forgiven people. Every sin of all mankind was laid on the Lord Jesus while He hung on the cross. He who knew no sin was made sin for us, so that we could be the righteousness of God in Christ. God has justified us, who is he that condemns? That includes us! We should quit fearing God's wrath. We should avoid sin, but for the right reason. God loves us. Our new, born again spirit gets defiled by sin. If you bought a brand new suit, would you go and roll in the mud? Let's not drag our new spirit through the mud. But out of love and respect, not fear of getting smashed for getting it wrong. And if we do fail (we will), get clean by confessing our sin. When we are born again, we receive a new, eternal spirit that is of God. Eternal means.... wait for it! eternal. Rest in the unfailing grace of God. Lord Jesus has promised that He will bring you through every trial, every problem, every failure and every defeat. Our part is to commit ourselves 100% to His lordship, His service and His kingdom. Let Him take care of you. He's good at it.

Sin is a debt we owe God. Suppose you get a speeding ticket. You have no money but your dad is rich. He says that he will pay the fine. So you accept his offer and you admit to speeding. The fine gets paid. What happens if you refuse to admit that you were speeding? The ticket remains open and you end up in court. God can only delete your sin from His books when you agree that you sinned.

The reason why God won't just let it go is because Satan is a legalist. He is the accuser of the brethren, the prosecuting attorney if you will. God's spiritual laws require that the sin be paid for. When you confess your sin, God says, "Oh, that's paid for already. Satan, take a hike".

After being born agian, can I loose my salvation?
No. For me and you to lose salvation, you would have to go back in time to stop Lord Jesus going to the cross and dying for us. Salvation is not based on what we do, rather on what Lord did for us 2,000 years ago.

So whether or not our garment "suit" is cleansed or not by confessing our sins. We still have eternal life, once we believe in Jesus Christ and his blood covers all our sin? Or do we confess to be forgiven agian also?

Unfortunately, I need to go, so I will have to get back to you about all of this when I return this evening.

Talk to you then (Dv).

p.s. - quickly, if your parents told you not to have a party at home while they were away, but you went ahead and did so anyway (and one of your friends broke your mom’s favorite vase, which was her most precious family heirloom passed down to her from her grandmother, into a million pieces), you would hang your head low and beg her to forgive you, right? Why? What are some of the reasons why you would choose to do that?

Sin is a debt we owe....... When you confess your sin, God says, "Oh, that's paid for already. Satan, take a hike".
So what's the point in confessing our sins? Jesus paid it all rite? And salvation is a free gift to those that beleive he is Lord. Rite?....

So my main question is, did Jesus forgive me of all my sin by what he did on the cross or do I have to confess my sins when I sin and continually work for my salvation?

Once we a are born again, our relationship with God is settled forever. However, it is possible to lose fellowship with God.
Proverbs 28:13
"He who conceals his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them will find mercy."

Isaiah 59:2
"But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, And your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear."

So yes, we confess our sins, but we do not lose our eternal standing with God if we sin.

Confession is for cleansing. Have you ever had a falling out with your parent? I did, with my dad. It made home life really hard. I was in the wrong. When I got things right, it was much easier. I was still a son, but it was hard to live under the same roof. It was years before dad and I were properly reconciled. We need God's mercy and grace all the time. Confessing sin makes sure that we have access to that mercy and grace.

There is no work involved. Confessing sin is making a statement of fact. Those who are born again have a renewed conscience. It convicts us of sin. When we are under conviction, we lose our joy. The joy of the Lord is our strength, so we become spiritually weak. Many people sink into depression, even despair because they did not confess. Satan is not slow to hammer those who are under conviction. He turns it into condemnation. Next thing that happens is the victim starts to agree with the devil. It's a cycle of defeat that is easily broken. Confess your sin! Many people are ignorant or complacent. I highly recommend that you avoid both!
