• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi everyone.

I doubt my salvation all the time. I believe in Jesus and that he died for our sins.

But I doubt my faith. Am I truly sorry for my sins? I know that I have sinned but sometimes I try to justify it by making excuses. I sometimes think "I was going through a hard time and I didn't hurt anyone. Whats wrong with that"...
Is this a sign that I'm not saved?

I know that sin is offensive towards God. But sometimes I don't understand why the sin is bad...

What should I do?

All believers have periods of doubt as they grow as Christians. Those with OCD often have more doubts because of their mental processes. Doubts are not a sign you are not saved; they are an indication that you have more growing to do.

When you sin, acknowledge it to God. Memorize and meditate on this verse: 1 John 1:9. When doubts come remind yourself of the truth of this passage from God's word.

Does that help?

Hi,

God is love, not anger and wrath. He loves you. As Christians we need to practice obedience regardless of what we think of our sin. There have been times when I was single, and thought to myself it would not hurt to use pornography, yet in my heart I made a decision to not use it because God wants us to be pure. What I found out when I got married was that my wife gets offended if she thinks I have even looked sexually at other women. So pornography even to an unmarried person can impact relationships latter.

I don't have a lot to say. Except, I know how awful this obsession is. I struggled with it for four years. I hope you take comfort in the fact that you're not alone. And I agree with what someone else put. Doubting your salvation does not meet you're not saved. It used to make me mad when people said "if you doubt your saved, then you probably aren't." Well, people with OCD doubt anything and everything. So that saying doesn't apply to us. But people with OCD doubt more often and longer because of how our mind is wired.
