  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Right --- "KNOWING the Father and Jesus, is eternal life". Salvation, is fellowship between man and God. See 1Jn1:1-3.

It is simply, an "indwelt fellowship of love". Not WHAT we know, but WHO we know --- and Who knows us. Everything then flows from "Him IN us". Our deeds --- are but the measure of Him inside.

With Him, we are "good trees", and therefore produce "good fruit".
Believing is associated with ST John 7:38-39.
"He who believes in Me, from his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water." Jesus spoke of the Spirit...

Nicely stated, Corvet! Good citation!!!

The word says that Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. In other words, He instills us with our faith and then gives us the ability to work that faith for faith is an action word when you understand it's purpose.
Hi, HM. Why does God hold a "Final Judgment"? I mean, if everything is HIS choice, if even the faith that SAVES is "instilled unilaterally by God", then we have no responsibility. And the Final Judgment becomes rather a "pageant".

Man cannot be judged for what God sovereignly orchestrated, can he?

In Heb13:2, the Greek used for "author", and "finisher", is "archegos" --- leader, or prince; and "teleiotes", chief example. So rather than saying that "God MACHINATED our faith", it really says "He LEAD us", doesn't it?

Saving faith comes from our hearts (Rom10:10); it comes from hearing (Rom10:17); it comes from conviction upon studying the Scriptures (2Tim3:16), or NOT (for those who REFUSE to learn, Jn5:39-47).

Whaddya think?

Ben Johnson,

Paul knew the answer to this very question in Romans 9 I beleive. It is stated Why does he still find fault. He isn't finding fault at all. He is fulfilling what he set down in eternity for a purpose which we cannot know at this time but if we walk in the faith that HE has given us, we will come to know in the end. He is the author and finisher of our faith. It is not of ourselves but Of God who wills. Who can question His purpose without knowing what it is?
