Are we obedient to the COMMANDS of Scripture?

I John 2:
3 ¶ And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

JB Phillips says it like this:

"It is only when we obey God's laws that we can be quite sure that we really know him. The man who claims to know God but does not obey his laws is not only a liar but lives in self-delusion. In practice, the more a man learns to obey God's laws the more truly and fully does he express his love for him. Obedience is the test of whether we really live "in God" or not. The life of a man who professes to be living in God must bear the stamp of Christ."

Gerry these salvation checks are awesome! I thank the Lord for allowing you to share them with us.

I have to say it would be impossible to love the Lord with all your heart and soul, and not want to keep his commandments also.

Great salvation checks Gerry. I agree, you can't love God and not follow His commandments. Its like saying, "i love You but i don't want to listen to You."

You are EXACTLY right Sharky. So when we tell our family and friends we love them, they can judge our words by our actions, can't they!

Thanks Gerry,

It is always nice to be reminded of God's laws,and how we are to obey them.

I think alot of times&nbsp;people go around saying they are christians and totally ignore what they are really suppose to do. Being a chriatian is a whole lot more than just showing up to church on Sundays, you know.
