Did any of you catch the miniseries on TNT the past two nights?

I'm always amazed in fiction how priests fold under pressure when faced with a vampire. They can see that the cross has an effect on them, holy water burns them, turn when rebuked, etc. That modicum of testimony to the truth of faith would just set me on fire to be the most tail kicking vampire hunter evarrrrr!!!!!1111

Oh man I cannot believe I forgot that was coming on!!

Was it as good as the first one Kelly??

The thing with the Priests is I believe they must believe, thye must have faith or the cross is meaningless in the fight. Which I think is true in other battels as well:)

It was darker. I never read the book, but this seemed more typically Steven King. i.e. everyone has some dark little secret which comes back to destroy them, evil promises something that turns out to be a twisted falsehood of what was offered, and humanity in general is corrupt/worthless save a small handful of people (i.e. the 'heroes'.)

I saw it. I thought it was really good. A whole lot better than the 1979 one with David Soul. I really have to read the book. Maybe after I read "The Vampire Lestat".

Question: Why does a vampire have to be invited before coming into a home?

I didn't know there was a remake :o Who's in it? I thought the original was great. It had some of the only truly scary screen vampires ever.

I don't know why vampires traditionally need to be invited...in Anne Rice novels they go where ever they want, whenever they want.

Perhaps they represent sin, and we have to willingly invite sin into our lives to sin.

Genesis 4
6 Then the LORD said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it."
8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." [1] And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

I have not, nor will I ever, see either of them, but my husband swears that the first one scared the fire out of him when he was a kid. He'd probably like to see the new one, though he'll have to find someone else to watch it with. It won't be me. ;) Now if the vampires were nice and friendly, MAYBE I'd check it out. ;)
