Thread: Adherent Fates: The Ignatius Children ll
Name: Saif
Gender: Male
Race: Aeonar
Age: Unknown. Appears to be in his late twenties.
Height: 6'
Weight: 186
Occupation: Guardian Commander
Appearance: Although it has been some time since his earthly walk as a human male, Saif looks no different. His skin is tan, and his hair is raven black, shaggy and short around his ears and collar with a neatly trimmed beard and mustache. His eyes are a soft brown, portraying the kindness held deep within. It's true that one could pass him on the streets and not realize what he is, but on his back he carries the sign of his true identity in the form of wings. More often than not he keeps them tucked up against his back where no one can see them through his clothes. When he stretches them out, however, their span can spread some several feet across. They're made entirely of skin and connected to his shoulder blades.
In his usual day, Saif dresses plainly. However, there do come times when he must depict certain people and as such will dress accordingly. No matter what though, he always carries with him a vial of the heavenly Xyst liquid as well as some sort of weapon.
Personality: Among his Aeonar kin, Saif is looked up to as a strong, trusting and gentle leader, someone to be and go to when help is needed. But among the humans he is often seen as peculiar. Overall he is a compassionate and intelligent being. While he doesn’t like to be forceful, he can be if necessary, but he always reacts with meekness. He is slow to anger and quick to defend the innocent.
Background: Saif was not always of the Aeonar. Like the others, he had once been human and by grace was given a second chance at life. Before his rebirth, he went by the name Faris Khaldun, the eldest son of Rafi of the Khaldun Dynasty. The Khalduns were an ancient family of sultans and freeriders, and for years they ruled over the entire eastern terrain of Arfan, a desert country where the people of the horse thrived.
Faris himself was a young prince who spent a good deal of his time drinking, bedding women in his harem and using his family’s power for his own good. He was better known as a cocky scoundrel who took life none too seriously. This was proven when one day he and his followers came upon the rival family of a fellow sheik, a couple cousins and their servants. Faris had the cousins stripped, branded and humiliated and their servants killed.
A couple months later it came back to haunt him. The sheik’s family and people had been well at work in plotting a revolt and revenge against the Khalduns. They stormed the palace and destroyed everything in their path. Faris watched helplessly as they broke apart ancient family relics, stole all the wealth and riches, killed his father and brothers, defiled and burned his own wife, and slaughtered his young son. Then they took a blade to him and slit his throat. As Faris lay choking on his own blood, he was washed with such regret and grief that the pain was worse than his wounds.
The next time he woke, his body had been reborn. His skin was as smooth as a baby’s without the scars and blemishes he had acquired throughout his life, including the one on his neck. He found himself in the world of the Aeonar, Guardians of the human race, beings that had been given a second chance to redeem themselves by spending the rest of their lives protecting the world they helped to destroy.
For years Faris was taught by the Aeonar and learned of the Heavenly Being they all worshipped, who guided them in their pathway to salvation. He vowed to be different than he had been before, changed his name to Saif to complete his rebirth, and eventually became one of the most sought after Aeonar in all troubles. He was also the one, hundreds of years later, asked to go after and stop the creature known only as Lodekai before humankind met their fate.
