  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello,
I'm a newbie to this sight, so i thought i would start things off right by asking for your help and opinions. I am a stay at home and my husband was resently laid off. Needless to say we need money...so anywho i was thinking of starting up a mending business (something i can do at home). What do you think? Do you think it will fly or not? Do you have any other ideas? Alot of people tell me i should start a seamstress business but I am so very critical of my own work i really don't know if i could.
Are any of you "pros", if so what is it like and how did ya get started?
Thank you.

I don't even know how to sew but I do have a suggestion. Does your church have a bulletin where you can post your services. It could be a good hit in the teen section. Proms are coming up very soon. And every year I have had to take my daughters dress to either get tucked in or hemmed. See if they will let you put a flyer in the teen classes. Then the students can get maybe a discount for referring friends from their school. And maybe you will get the business for whatever dad or mom needs and just don't have time for. Good Luck. I think it is a great idea. God works in mysterious ways. This trial may have come to get this business going for you. The worst thing that can happen is it doe'snt work. But at least the wondering... I wonder if I would of...... will have an answer. Good Luck in your venture! I understand what it is like to get laid off. I myself have been laid off 3 times. 1. Our department was transferred to another state. 2. One the company moved 2 1/2 hours away. 3. Company closed. This puts such a presure on the family when you all of sudden don't have that paycheck. Give it to God, he always provides for us. You and your family will be in my prayers. :prayer:

Go to your local drycleaners & see if they have anyone that does their sewing. Most of the time they contract out their mending, and you could get the job! Make sure you have an idea of what you would like to charge.
