  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Execution could play right into the hands of the martyr worshippers. Lifetime incarceration maybe?
In an American prison with Lonely Bubba. Now that would be justice.

The name of the mission that nabbed him was "Operation Red Dawn."

Heh.
Bwahahaha, oh the irony. Such a great movie though.

I can see that he'd be viewed as a martyr if the soldiers who found him shot him on sight.....but this is the guy who's been telling the whole arab world to fight the evil US to the last man, and what happened? He didn't fire a shot. He went quietly. He should be tried by the Iraqi people and left to their mercy or justice.

Try him. Convict him, and give him a quick and humane execution.
Yes, that's the same way Saddam treated political opponents. Except of course the part about the trial, conviction, quick and humane. Being a death penalty supporter, I am opposed to it in this case. It let's him off too easy. I believe that in prison he won't live too long anyway

Saddam was captured alive, without anyone firing a single shot. The 4th ID, which IIRC is the most technologically advanced ground force on the planet, led the capture. This is a huge moral victory for Iraq and America. The ace of spades is in the hole!

Do keep in mind that the campaign will go on. However, this momentum swing will be a huge shot in the arm to those involved, especially the civilians. They haven't had a reason to party in the streets since the day we took over Baghdad more than half a year ago.

ah, the lovely ceaucescu couple... that was disturbing to watch, yet a nice and expedient, full and timely resolution to the problem.

The most powerful reaction I've seen is the Iraqi journalist who, while the others were cheering at the news, sat there and sobbed. He said later, "Saddam looked just like I did when they released me after two years of every kind of torture."

The mingling of all that... the vindication, revenge, empathy, and hatred so strong it just turns to despair... kind of sums up the situation best, to me.

One can only imagine. After all that you hear about the guy, I guess I was just taken aback how in the end, he looked rather pathetic. Dunno what I was expecting, but certainly not a non-confrontational surrender.

What should happen is the troops that caught him stand him up in front of a firing squad. When the commander says ready, aim, fire they all yell sike.. Then place him in a glass cage, bullet proof of course, and move him from city to city and let the people see him. Don't kill him, make him live to see what Iraqi can become without him in power. Let every person that had a loved one come to his cage and press a button where he can see his childrens last days on this earth. Have the Bible read to him 24/7. BUT don't kill him.. Every year or so run a court to make him think we're going to let him go and at the end of each court laugh and just lock him up again. BUT don't kill him.. Show him pictures over and over again of all the dath he has caused. Who knows, maybe someday he'll repent and be saved. BUT don't kill him..
