  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Suzannah, I just noticed your new avatar. Where was that photo taken? It's beautiful!
Just pick AnyVillage, Ireland... :) All of Ireland is dotted with the High Crosses in our graveyards....Some people still put them on their property when they buy it, just for a blessing on their land. Many farms will have a small portion of land set aside for this purpose. Unfortunately, Ireland is falling (again) to secularism and the young people don't observe the old custom. Here's the graveyard on my family's land home in Donegal. The high cross there, is the marker for my great grandfather.

My prayer corner is just above my desk in my bedroom. I don't have the capability to scan yet, but may be you can get an idea: In the center Jesus Christ the Savior and the Holy Virgin Mary Birthgiver of God, Holy Father Moses of Ethiopia (my name saint however is Moses Prophet and God seer of Israel), Michael the Archangel, the Holy Apostle Silas. To the sides are Jesus Christ Pantocrator, The Holy Transfiguration, St. John Maximovitch, and behind me St. Nicholas the Wonderworker.

Nice avatar Suzannah! The St. Olga and the Celtic crosses are without a doubt my favorites! Again, nice avatar!

Here's what I have so far. I want to get an icon of St. Seraphim of Sarov soon as I'm choosing him for my patron. I also can't wait to get a censer so I can use "real" incense. ;)

Hey, I think I recognize the main icon in the center of your icon corner! I am glad you pray in front of it! :)

:)

It is a tremendous aid in prayer, thank you so much for writing it for me. It is so amazing to really have a prayer life for the first time and to enjoy the time I spend in prayer. My only regret in finding Orthodoxy is that I didn't find the Truth years ago.

This is probably a goofy question, but do you guys kiss all your icons? I've noticed that some of the icons I've seen in pictures look too high up on the wall to be able to kiss them (unless your 7 ft. tall). And some of you have so many that it would take a while to venerate every single one. Just curious.
