Hi,
I have learned a lot from the people who post here, and I feel that I am ready to attend a service at a Messianic congregation. My husband has expressed his displeasure with our current church situation, but he is not ready to consider messianic judaism. He is working towards attending med school, and has a busy schedule. We talked this morning, and I was suprised that his biggest barrier is the friday/saturday sabbath. He works every Saturday in cardiac rehab at a local hospital, and feels that he will always work Saturdays during med school, residency, and private practice.
Here are some questions he asked me that I could not answer. Maybe someone could help.
Is it okay for people in the medical profession, firemen, police, and people in other service related fields to not observe the friday/saturday sabbath?
If it is, why would G-d make an exception?
If he did make an exception, is sunday sabbath an exception, too, because it is culturally accepted?
He feels he would be able to observe the sunday because culturally, doctors offices and the like are closed.
Also, should I attend without my husband? I'm not really sure about this.
Thanks,
Mandy
