The seventh day was called holy before Exodus 16.

What Jesus did on the Sabbath was also allowed under the OT..

Declaring to be Lord means He had authority to put the Sabbath in its right perspective.

Remember, Jesus didn't come to do away with the Law.

I was just throwing out the Genesis thing to see what people thought, and it seems pointless to discuss it now.
What discussion?
This is a topic that several have weighed in on, and your response doesn't encourage discussion over the sundry points in your post.

Sabbath COMMAND:

Exodus 31:15 (NKJV)
15 Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

I don't really think you folks want to obey the Sabbath COMMANDS.

Praise God for His grace.

And of course we want to keep the Sabbath because we love God.

I can't wait to see who will follow that particular directive....

because of God's infinite mercy he now only burns us in hell for not keeping Sabbath, instead of having us stoned to death like before.
Nah, He doesn't burn anyone in Hell for not keeping the Sabbath COMMANDS. There are none in the NT.

Sabbath is repentance and rest from the works of the flesh.

Gen 6:6
6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. KJV

Only as the Lord gives us to be grieved in our heart for the good works of our flesh does he lead us into his rest/sabbath.

The good works of our flesh are "dead" works.

Heb 6:1
...not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works,...KJV

Heb 9:14
14 How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? KJV

Those consequences were given under a theocracy. We are no longer under a theocracy. But that doesn't mean we throw the baby out with the bathwater.

It is the rebellious nature that resents the authority and power of God when He deals justly with sin and sinners. We want only a warm and fuzzy sugar daddy in the sky who has no laws and no consequences built into those laws. We want only mercy, no justice. Thankfully, God has united mercy and justice in a perfect QED. It's just that some don't want to hear anything about the justice side at all. They respond with rebellion instead.

He burns people for not loving Him, and those who love Him keep His commandments (Sabbath!)

Kira, God will not burn people for not loving Him. There comes a time when sin will be brought to an end, and the earth will be purified by fire in order to create the New Earth. Whoever hates or is indifferent to God will have chosen to not take the lifeline extended by God and will have chosen to remain on earth when it is cleansed by fire. That scenario is far different than saying that God burns people for not loving Him.

Why do you testify against God like this?
