Its evidenced in Mat 11:28-30 the 7th day Sabbath never gives the rest of God. God also says that Israel would never enter that rest even while they observed the 7th day Sabbath. It sounds like to me that Jesus was downplaying the Sabbath saying instead of man serving it, it was supposed to serve man. The only way it could serve man is to give him rest when he needs it and the Saturday Sabbath doesn't always do that.
Such as....Why not deal with the issues raised in the verses you posted?
No more than any other day. What is this? The Saturday Sabbath suppose to do something? Is it not how we act on that day and not what the day does?
If we act the same on Sunday as you do on Saturday we are seen as evil, therefore the Sabbath must have some sort of magic associated with it that makes it not evil to act a certain way that day. It must be the day more than the acting IMO.What is this? The Saturday Sabbath suppose to do something? Is it not how we act on that day and not what the day does?
That is how I read it......Its evidenced in Mat 11:28-30 the 7th day Sabbath never gives the rest of God. God also says that Israel would never enter that rest even while they observed the 7th day Sabbath.
11 And Jesus entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple: and when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the eventide was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve.
12 And on the morrow, when they were come from Bethany, he was hungry:
13 And seeing a fig tree afar off having leaves, he came, if haply he might find any thing thereon: and when he came to it, he found nothing but leaves; for the time of figs was not yet.
14 And Jesus answered and said unto it, No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever. And his disciples heard it.
The Kingdom of God shall be Taken from you..and that once and for all..Matt 21:
42Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
43Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
National Israel's rejection and curse is final..33Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:
34And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.
35And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
36Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
37But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
38But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
39And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.
40When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
41They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
44And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
45And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
Sorry ol' buddy, but the Church isn't Israel. Nor does it replace Israel. That is how I read it......

National Israel is cursed forever !
Mk 11:
The nation of Israel at one time in world history was representive of Gods covenant people here on earth and had many spiritual advantages over and above all other nations of the world..................................
Many have been deceived to think that Gods Israel, to whom all the promises were made, is a particular race of people, but its not, Gods Israel to whom pertains the promises is ethnically diversified, comprised of men and women of all nationalites, its not a people of race, but of grace..
Jesus has given many indications that Israel according to the flesh was not the chosen People of God..and that their nation would be cut off even from its earthly privileges of once being in a National Covenant relationship with God..
The Kingdom of God shall be Taken from you..and that once and for all..
All the earthly Glory Israel once had as being a People of God, a represenation of the Kingdom of God on earth, well that has been taken away from them by God..
Jesus was announcing her end and at the same time annoucing Gods New representative Nation, though really not new, but now being more manifested.. This Covenant people will be highlighted with both jew and gentiles for here on out, the Israel of God. This People [The Israel of God] did exist in the OT but was mostly jewish people who existed in national israel, but now would be the time for the gathering in of the gentiles who were of the Israel of God..
Look at the context of Matt 21 and it gives us clear evidence of the end of national Israel :
National Israel's rejection and curse is final..

Yeah, that would be replacement theology, [but I don't concern myself either way with it.]Sorry ol' buddy, but the Church isn't Israel. Nor does it replace Israel.

Yeah, that would be replacement theology, [but I don't concern myself either way with it.]
What about the OC earthly Levitical priesthood of OC Israel/Judah being replaced with the NC spiritual priesthood of Jesus?
Hebrews 7:12

Hebrews 8:

Did you ever read Josephus's account of the prophectic destruction of Jerusalem, the Temple and priesthood? Just as Hebrews 8 predicted.
[Makes me wonder how many Priests were in Jerusalem at that time]
The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD
The Romans, exasperated to the highest pitch against the Jews, seized every person whom they could find, and, without the least regard to sex, .age or quality, first plundered and then slew them.
The old and the young, the common people and the priests, those who surrendered and those who resisted, were equally involved in this horrible and indiscriminate carnage.
The Temple now presented little more than a heap of ruins...
For five days after the destruction of the Temple, the priests who had escaped, sat, pining with hunger, on the top of one of its broken walls; at length, they came down, and humbly asked the pardon of Titus, which, however, he refused to grant them, saying, that, "as the Temple, for the sake of which he would have spared them, was destroyed, it was but fit that its priests should parish also:" -whereupon he commanded that they should be put to death.

Being closely associated with the Temple, the Sadducees disappeared from history when the Temple was destroyed in 70.
.
What is this "certain way"?If we act the same on Sunday as you do on Saturday we are seen as evil, therefore the Sabbath must have some sort of magic associated with it that makes it not evil to act a certain way that day. It must be the day more than the acting IMO.
I'll buy that with glee!!.

Are you remotely saying it doesn't apply to all Christians? He said it in his anger, this is how we know there remains a rest for the people of G-d. The book from hebrews was written to the tribes of Israel.
Where? You demand Scripture and don't give it yourself.Yeshua promised rest to those who honored sabbath; jews.
Careful -- when you quote the teaching of Christ you are likely to be attacked.
1 John 5:1-4
5 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. 4 For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
blessings.
in Christ,
Bob
Never mind me. What does the Bible say?Im saying sabbath rest belong to the jews. The same people whom you say will never enter G-d's rest.
So who cares what religious organizations and people say? You appeal to these because the Bible won't support your position. And getting to the language in the subject title of this thread -- recently we saw that the connection between the Lord's Day and the Sabbath commandment that Adventists keep bringing up is also affirmed by some other denominations as well - not excluding EO, and Catholic of course.
Here is the Pope's - Dies Domini making that connection using the language in the subject title of this thread. But defending that connection will need to be done by Sabbath keepers such as SDAs and not Catholics or Eastern Orthodox on this area of the board.
63. Christ came to accomplish a new "exodus", to restore freedom to the oppressed. He performed many healings on the Sabbath (cf. Mt 12:9-14 and parallels), certainly not to violate the Lord's Day, but to reveal its full meaning: "The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath" (Mk 2:27). Opposing the excessively legalistic interpretation of some of his contemporaries, and developing the true meaning of the biblical Sabbath, Jesus, as "Lord of the Sabbath" (Mk 2:28), restores to the Sabbath observance its liberating character, carefully safeguarding the rights of God and the rights of man. This is why Christians, called as they are to proclaim the liberation won by the blood of Christ, felt that they had the authority to transfer the meaning of the Sabbath to the day of the Resurrection.
Odd how they make those statements showing the connection but then leave it to the Sabbath keepers to defend the connection.
in Christ,
Bob
