Sabbath guidance

The "fluff" that argues that if the Israelites had the command "Love God with all your heart" Deut 6:5 and "do not take God's name in vain" Ex 20:6 -- well then "we Christians should reject it because we cannot do better" - is not the sort of argument that most Christians take seriously.

These are God’s commandments to His people written on two tablets of stone and given to Moses on Mt. Sinai as the Children of Israel wandered in the wilderness.

There is no way that we, as sinful mortals, can keep these commandments. Yet God demands that we keep every one perfectly every day of our life or we will die eternally.

God also knows that, as sinners, we cannot ever hope to keep them so He sent His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross of Calvary in our place and thus has given us eternal life with Him in heaven.


The Commandments

God threatens to punish all who transgress these commandments. Therefore we should fear his anger and not disobey what he commands. But he promises grace and every blessing to all who keep these commandments. Therefore we should love and trust in him, and gladly obey what he commands.

Christ uses the "sola scriptura" method to hammer the traditions and doctrines of his day that were in error -- popular but still "error"

8 For laying aside the Commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
9 And he said unto them, Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition.
10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:
11 But ye say, If a man shall say to his father or mother, It is Corban, that is to say, a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; he shall be free.
