  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I had Russian in school. What can I say? If you talk already a slavic language, it wont be that hard for you, because you understand many words. Thats the reason, I did not want to learn French, so I picked Russian. :D You have to learn the Cyrillic alphabet too, but it is not that hard, it will only take you long to read perfectly. I learned the Cyrillic alphabet within one day. If you are really interested and if you are ready to work hard you will have a great time learning the language.

to be completely honest, polish is kind of useless. i'd rather learn russian. that way you can pretty much speak belarussian, ukrainian, and most of the caucasus region speaks russian. not to mention if you know russian, you might be able to make a few words out of the yugoslav languages.

If I was to choose between these two languages (which I may have to) which should I learn? Opinions, please!

I think polish is the way to go is you're looking for an easier language (not saying it's easy). Russian is a very complex language, but on the other hand, it's more common and it's used in most eastern European countries. Either way, knowing another language is rewarding!

Polish have some words from German, Latin, English and almost slavisch. It is many similarity Polish-Russian. Polish had many evolutions with language in direct (West) Europe.

But sometimes Polish people have German easyer, when Region where live is West-Poland (Silesia). Now every people in polish school learn english, but in the past we (I'm Pole) must to learn ~ only Russian (and Polish).

For all people of West Polish is difficult, but possible. Russian is easier. I agree. Only one problem- alphabet, but I think, small problem. And Polish grammar come from ~Latin and current alphabet. Russian from Greek.

Yes, Poland was catholic country, Russia was Eastern Orthodox. Now Poland is more liberal but also very catholic, Russia was about 70 years atheistic in XX century. Russia was Imperium, Poland only Kingdom. Polish people generally like Europenian Union, Russian no. Russia was Soviet Union, it is now still just as valid today.
