Runtime error ??

For the last couple days I have been getting this runtime error message for my IE6. What does it mean and How can I get rid of it ??
Any help is greatly appreciated.

That's not a whole lot to go on...
Is it a "Java" runtime error, a pop-up dialog box that says something like:

A runtime error has occurred.
Do you wish to debug?

If so, this is not a problem with IE, but with certain badly-written websites. This message is useless unless you're a Web developer, but MS leaves it turned on by default. It's safe to turn it off without affecting your browsing.

To do so: select the "Tools" menu in IE, then select "Internet Options". Pick the "Advanced" tab. Under the category "Browsing", check the box that says "Disable script debugging" and uncheck the box that says "Display a notification about every script error." This should disable them.

Write down/copy to notepad the exact error message. Google for it, or parts of it. This should turn up a solution. Once you're done with that, ignore the solution they give you and then go to www.mozilla.org and download firefox instead

Does it say you're running out of virtual memory? If so, then clear any temporary items you have, and up your virtual memory.

In windows XP, right click on "My Computer" and select properties. Click on the Advanced tab. Under "performance" click the settings button. Then click the advanced tab. Under "virtual memory", click the "change" button. And put another 100 or so MB to whatever is there.

Gee, that's weird. I haven't seen that before. (The perks of Linux...)
Windows almost does a decent job of managing virtual memory settings itself. I let it do so.
Clearing the cache regularly is a good idea too.
Personally, I think Opera is faster and tighter than Mozilla.

Not unless you have a lot of RAM. Otherwise it's just better to reserve a ton I've found.

Thanks, I appreciate this. My initial setting was 384 to a max of 768. I went with half of the difference between the two.
384 divided by 2 = 192
384 + 192 = 576
So, I now have 576 MB for my virtual memory. Will this be adequate ?

That should be fine. Just be sure to clear out any temporary items that may be laying around too. Besides your internet cahce, if you're on a pre XP/2000 system, there should ba a folder, C:/Temp that you can empty, which may help.
