  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Should we as Christians who have accepted Jesus as our Saviour, rely on him in times of illness. Or run to the doctors for help in this age? :)

I’ve never met or known a person; Pastor, teacher, prophet, seer who haven't need a doctor in their lives. There are many ways of receiving healing; natural, western medicine, God’s word/truth, miracles.

Sometimes you pray, sometimes you pray and go to the doctor.

Just a few hours ago I returned from hospital after having a heart pacemaker installed. Being a Christian for over 70 years I have no problem in using doctors to solve my physical problems. For my spiritual problems I seek help elsewhere.

Cool! Thanks :). so its not turning our back on Jesus if we seek help from man? I mean He made them to be doctors! Yeah?

I believe that God gave us doctors and medicines for common sense reasons, so I use them at times where they are required. I pray that God gives them skill to give me the best treatment possible. As a simple example, I need my glasses to make this post.

'You shall not put the Lord your God to the test.'

In other words, don't put Him in a situation where he MUST act.
That doesn't make sense! So if I ask God to act in a time I'm in trouble , that's wrong?

Let us try this logic with other aspects of life.

Should we go to the store and buy groceries or rely on our savior to provide food?

Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses. -- 1 Timothy 5.

Medical prescription, right there.

There is an old Muslim saying: "Should I tie my camel or trust God?"

Depends on whether the person can afford to buy groceries! Or he goes begging for food and relies on Jesus to provide! ?

Thank you, I am. Just noticed your tag line. The little girl at left was the best non-human friend I have ever had. She was totally loving, totally loyal and totally fearless (to the point of stupidity).

No. It means don't do things that put Him in a situation where He MUST act. For instance, refusing medical treatment for a life threatening illness (e.g., a ruptured appendix)
