Runescape is not a game to be laughed at, but rather to be admired for it's ability to do what most other MMORPGs cannot.

For one, Runescape doesn't need to be installed and can be played on just about all computers. The game is more based on an online economy, success depending on being able to sell high and buy low.

Yeah the graphics are not great, and the gameplay is highly lacking in many areas, but if you stick to it, you'll get into it and really love the game.

ummmm....I think you need to open your eyes to the TRUE mother of MMO's, or so I've heard, World of Warcraft...but if you just like it because it's free...I don't blame you, because I used to play it...but now it just seems so...just so darn stupid

World of Warcraft is rather laughed at in some circles as well, like mine! Well... Here I go! Wahahahahahahaha!

The only free MMO I can recomend is the free version of Anarchy Online. I used to play it, it is a fun, deep game with a variety of character types to choose from, the community may look bad around level 1-60, but past that it gets much better (The level cap is 200 for free players, 220 for paying)

Other than that, I have disliked every free MMO I have ever tried. Oh, and WoW... hahaha!

If it was free, Id say go for it, but you have the monthly fee so untill that disapears, Ill stick to EVE

I love EVE! I am currently trying to get funds in order to play it. I have done the 14 day trial twice, gotten a cruiser both times, and the game is just amazing!

The only thing I hate about it is if you want to move up into lower security areas, theres nothing stopping people from just blowing your ship up for the fun of it, setting you back quite a lot

Yeah, on my first free trial, some guy gave me a bunch of stuff, gained my trust and asked me to join his corporation. I went and he lead me to a .2 zone. He shot me down, took the stuff back and pod killed me. Which is why I got CoH instead. The second time I played, I had a very nice group, and they helped free me of my doubt of everyone and everything

I am not sure why the first guy killed me though... I didn't have anything but the items he gave me. Just a jerk perhaps?

Very true... Infact, its kind of true with just about anything on the internet. Most likely a result of the anonymity.

EVE has the least player protection of any MMORPG on the market. Theres also more scammers and more ways to rip people off on EVE than there are on any other game.

Its frustrating because someone can just come along and blow the hell out of you without any reason and theres nothing you can do about it.

Exactly, and when coupled with the fact that it can happen just about anywhere (even in a 1.0 zone if the person is willing to take the consequences and is much stronger than you) and quite possibly the worst death policy of any MMO to date, (If you don't play, in EVE, you lose your ship and everything in it as well as all your skills if you do not have your clones and insurance up to date.) It makes eve quite frustrating at times. I have even heard stories about when someone's computer crashed and they came back to find they had been pod-killed.

By the way, what group do you usually play as? I was gallente. (Spelling?)

I only play one character. You can only have one skill PER ACCOUNT (not per character) training so one character is all I really play. My main is a Minmatar I dont really have a set job, Ive actually made quite a nice pile as a Junker

Actually the crashing thing happened to me. I had JUST bought a BRAND new Cruiser (I mean that thing was TEN MINNUTES old) and I started towards an asteroid belt and the game crashed. When I managed to get back on, ship was GONE. An Angel Rouge blew it to hell. Thankfully the EVE support people gave me a new one, but the game has crashed in the past.

What they need to do is change what happens when you die. They make it WAY too easy to loose hours and hours of work.

I have played Runscape for about a year. It is fun to me, even though I know it is lacking in a lot of areas. When you spend that much time building up your stats it is hard to walk away from the game .

I have played Runescape. Its really not bad, despite what others say. I just forgot my guy's name and such. Plus i've been distracted by World of WarCraft and Guild Wars to really think about coming back to it. But When I do remember my Runescape guy's name I'm coming back to it!

Right now wow rules mmorpgs. Dungeon and Dragons Online has a massive fan base, so does Ever Quest 2. Guild Wars may come in second place as far as mmorpgs are concerned. Phantasy Star Universe looks like one of the better mmorpgs coming out. I was a big fan of the console version so this one will perhaps top them all or at least come neck to neck with wow.
