• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Hi everyone. I don't usually post in this part of the forums. I'm 26, mom to two boys ages 2 1/2 and 11 mos. I am really run down and my days are filled with ups and downs. I also have fibromyalgia, chronic headaches and I take medication for hypothyroidsim (I also was in a car accident in 1993 resulting in a head injury along with a host of problems including depresssion.) Currently, I am a living zombie, barely able to cope as I lack sleep...my youngest was diagnosed as failure to thrive...he's been hospitalized twice, once for observation and tests, the other because he became sick and would not eat. He is supposed to get a minimum of 32 oz a day but every day is a struggle. He would rather play and babble than eat. So I am up until 1:30 or 2 am...then get up at 4:30 am for an additional feeding. This schedule is killing me. I'm so tired and then lack the energy or motivation to do anything else. I am planning to call my doctor to schedule an appointment. I am currently taking Effexor but it doesn't seem to be very effective (I've been on anti-depression medicine since 1994 because if I don't take it, I get very horrible headaches that feel like electrical shocks) My other son is receiving speech therapy currently. He doesn't talk (He had brain surgery for hydrocephalus in Oct 2003) I've concentrated so much on my sons, with doctor visits and therapists and whatnot that I haven't even thought about myself. I know I don't eat right...half the time I forget to eat. I feel like I am about to burn out. My husband helps when he can, he is such a godsend. But his work schedule is horrible since he is lower in seniority. I just ask your prayers and if you have any advice of any kind.

Those headaches sound horrible, although I have had some bad ones in my life as well...it seems to run in my family. I'm praying for you since I know my mother worked very hard to raise me when I was growing up. I know it's not easy. God loves you and I believe by His grace you will survive this year and many many more to come.

What does your support structure look like friends, church, family?.. Are you doing this alone?

My mom is a big support for me. I live 20 min away from her and I see her once or twice a week. She'll watch the boys while I shop or have to run errands.
My husband currently has off Thurs and Fridays and he'll let me sleep in on those days, helping me with feeding the Squeaker. He also will help me out around the house on those days. I attend church when I am able. Last Sunday I was too tired and before that my boys were sick. I also try to attend MOPS when I'm not too tired or the boys aren't sick. I don't really have any friends
and we hardly get out much but the church has ministries to help out with housecleaning and such. But I'm pretty much alone most of the day with my boys. I'm just so tired.
