  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why take a stance on the nicene Creed then?

Why the How to become a christian link at the bottom?

Man the barn door is opening wide if you really plan to be consistent with your statement here.
I'm concerned by the way you extrapolate the fact that CF being a website (which is a neutral entity - a website is not a person) automatically means that there is no need to enforce a definition of what it means to be Christian from a doctrinal point of view or that it automatically means that this website does not have an objective of preaching the gospel.

In any case, this thread has kept me up until 2:23 am and I'm to be at a church camp from tomorrow for the weekend.

Good luck and good night. Or shall I say, good morning.

I responded to drstevej in a private forum, but I will repost my response here in public for the record:

Trust me when I tell you that my personal stance on these topics are very clear and strong, and cannot be compromised. I am an elder of a church. I know where I stand.

However, CF as a website cannot reflect my beliefs as I am not here to impose them on everyone else. I am not out to make Christians in my image. This is why CF is neutral - not that it supports these topics, but it also does not oppose them. It is up to its members to make those decisions.

This does not mean that CF cannot have a definition of what is a Christian, nor does it mean that CF cannot have a link explaining the good news.
