It appears it may have been slightly harder than a buddy slap. The level of "violence" is debatable, but it was certainly not friendly and it was assault and battery. You can't go around touching people you disagree with or don't know without their consent and not risk getting charged with something.

This is at least as ridiculous as that time a reporter claimed that Cory Lewandowski assaulted her when he just shoved his way by her in a crowd.
