The best strategy is to not have one. If you do you become predictable and easily defeated. The best plan is to advance with separate armies and out maneuver your enemy bring the maximum of your force to bear on his minimum to bring about a crushing defeat. If you ever have to fight more then one battle you made a big mistake

Against a human, I agree. Against the CPU...not so much.

You go in and crush your enemy, simple as that. War is an art and its outcome depends solely on the artist. It is only maneuver and slaughter, the better the artist the more the maneuver and the less the slaughter

While I haven't played an RTS seriously for years, the best players that I've seen where able to attack at vital weak points on opposing players and always keep the pressure on. You almost never see turtles on high lvl play for an RTS...mostly b/c you can't win by playing good defense...you can only win by good offense.
