  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi all.

Saturday was a horrible day at work for me. In my profession, unfortunately, tragic death is common. Because I work at a National Recreation Area, it usually happens to people who are on vacation, not expecting their fun to end in such a way. I've dealt with more than my share already, and I've only been in the area 2 years. Saturday was the hardest yet. A girl very close in age to my older daughter was killed in a freak accident on a beach. I'll spare the details, but needless to say it hit a little close to home. It's the first time I personally have dealt with a young child fatality.

So, I have praised God for giving me the strength to work through the incident as it happened. I know he was with me. I'm asking that you pray for me as I deal with this, I have a great support group in my family and friends at church, but I can't quite shake the images from my head or stop myself from imagining one of my daughters in that situation. I know God has this baby in His loving arms, and she feels no pain, so that comforts some. Also, pray for this girl's family, they need it far more than I.
