Rosicrucian Order

Does anyone know anything about the Rosicrucian Order? I believe it's not a specific religious group, but a friend of mine mentioned it in passing and I was curious about it.

Well it seems like a "cult" with good intentions, isn't it? This is what I read from their website:

"First, the Traditional Rosicrucian carries within their heart love, compassion and tolerance. In addition, it can be said that the Rosicrucians don’t follow the course of ordinary human standards, but rather those standards of an esoteric and spiritual realm. They seek the Truth within, and they live according to that truth. For the Rosicrucians purity is essential, clear direction a must, and selflessness is the act. These traditional values and standards point to the fact that a Rosicrucian is determined by what is in their heart, not by the organization or Order they belong to. "

Hi!

I can't tell you a whole lot about it, except that my great-uncle is one. I've always known him to be a very kind, loving person, and from what I understand his beliefs have helped him overcome some personal problems (alcohol mainly-stopped about 25 years ago). He's a sweet person, and quite a poet. I have to laugh a little when I hear him called a "cult member!"

One person's "cult", is another's path.

I thought I got my sarcasm across with the word cult within quotes followed by a cool smilie. I personally don't consider any faith, even Christianity as a cult.

All persecuted or unaccepted belief systems have got to be a "secret society" especially in their formative years. The early Christians would have known how it was to be persecuted and rejected by the "rigid upholders of the Law"
Nowadays non-Christian belief societies are rejected(since persecution is not permitted) by the "rigid upholders of the WORD OF GOD".

I see a pattern here. Established belief has to reject a new thought it seems. The ways of the world are mysterious.
