My bf did the sweetest thing today! He gave me roses, for no particular reason. I was so surprised! He's never given me flowers before. When I asked him why, he just said that they sell flowers where he works, and he always thought he should get me some. So today he did! I'm in such a sappy romantic mood now!

Aww thats awesome!! My bf has sent me flowers on a few occasions. Once a few weeks ago, because he was supposed to come visit me at school, but couldnt. So he sent me a really beautiful bouquet. And also 2 weeks ago when he was here, he had a bouquet of lilies for me, along with 26 love letters randomly hidden in my house. (A reason why he thinks Im so special, for each letter of the alphabet)

Anyways yeah... I have th ebest boyfriend in the world.

Reminds me of when I ordered my first bouquet for Danie. It was a bit of a shame that I couldn't be there to give them to her and see her reaction first hand. But she was very pleasantly surprised and her enthusiasm when I talked to her afterwards will remain imprinted on my mind forever But I know how unbelievably blessed I am to know and love her, so showing that to her via any sort of gift is something I love to do

Yah totally, I was working that afternoon, so he had the keys to my appartement. So he apparently just made himself right at home, and hid letters around my house. SOme in my text books, jacket pocket, random cds, etc... it was awesome. So when I got home, there was a bouquet of lillies (which are my fav flowers... and he knows that.. in fact any bouquet I have gottenn from him as always had lillies in it... man he IS awesome) anyways so on mybed was this bouquet of lillies and a letter explaining what he had done and wow it just brought tears to my eyes.

I have never felt so special in all of my life, then I did that night. ANd then I proceeded to get ready and look extra hot for him He took me out for supper and then we went to a jazz club after supper in Vancouver.

*sigh* Wow.... he's so amazing. I am so blessed to have him

A lot of guys simply have a hard time understanding the worth of something that's dead and gone in a few days.
And if he cares about you, he shouldn't be offended at being told he needs to buy you flowers.

if he has a problem with buying you something that will die within a few days, suggest a potted plant? they can be just as beautiful, and sometimes just as expensive.
But if you are like me, the plant will probally die within the same ammount of time as the flowers

Unless you go with Bamboo... you cant really kill that... or a cactus... which I did manage to kill

I don't think it's usually that guys don't like that it dies, I think they prefer to buy something more lasting, not realizing that the flowers can mean just as much (and not start to clutter up the place after a few gifts).

Something that lasts "forever" would obviously be more appealing on the guy's behalf, but I am sure that any gift to your loved one will be received with the same joy no matter how long its life is. I knew that the roses I sent Danie would die after a week or 2, so I compared that to my lasting devotion and love to her on the card that was included.

When my boss was giving my fiance directions so he could pick me up from work, he quite cannily pointed out where a flower shop was just around the corner from where I work. Now I get surprised with flowers every now and then when my fiance picks me up

But I don't think that solution would work for everyone.

awww, there is sometihng to be said about flowers from one's father. My dad sent me some beutiful pink roses on my 18th birthday... anyways they were awesome.
