  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Last night and this morning I prayed the rosary for the first time and I really loved it. Both times I stood up with a sense of peace & patience. :crossrc: I was wondering if people pray the rosary at mass? And how often do people pray the rosary? Did the Rosary come from St.Dominic or was it around before then?

PS: Thanks to the guy who showed me where to order a free rosary, I can't remember your name.:doh:

Clap! I pray the rosary daily, and it has been such a grace filled experience and drawn me closer to Our Lady and Our Lord. If you love the rosary you may also want to read the Glories of Mary and True Devotion.

Definitely, nothing wrong with praying your rosary before mass. I'm sure it would help you prepare for the mass. I say mine before going to bed each night.

If you like, you could pray the Rosary before Mass, but not during. IMHO.

Also, praying the Rosary daily is the best thing to do.

The Rosary eventually evolved off the first Church's quoting the 150 psalms in scriptures.... by using 'pebbles'.
Then it slowly evolved into using the Hail Mary prayer 150 times.

Etc etc.

I did have a link to the history.

The Rosary is definitely one of the best devotions out there. They say that it is a great spiritual warfare tool. It helps to keep you from sin. Or I should say that Mary's prayers help to keep us from sin and obviously during the Rosary we are constantly requesting Mary's intercession. The intercession of Mary is one of the most powerful intercessions that we can obtain.

As for praying the Rosary during Mass, you shouldn't do it. If you want to pray the Rosary before Mass, that is fine. Many parishes have a public saying of the Rosary before or after Mass. You shouldn't pray the Rosary during Mass though because that would cause you to be distracted from the Mass even if it is just in a small way.

The Rosary is a great thing indeed. I try to pray mine in the little free time that I have, every few days. But I do have a 1 Decade Rosary(a Rosary with only 1 set of 10 beads, the crucifix, and the string of beads that lead to it) that I carry around and try to say daily.
