  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I'm glad I could help, Stormy. :)

And you have nothing to feel foolish or embarrassed about. It is possible to mediate on the Passion without having it in Technicolor in front of your eyes. I also know of a woman who only prayed Joyful Mysteries, her entire life; she had a lot of children and I guess the Joyful Mysteries (dealing with Mary's motherhood) were things she could identify with more closely than the others. :)

Don't fret if you don't memorize the Hail Holy Queen.  It's actually an optional prayer said at the end of the Rosary.

I still have trouble with the Apostle's Creed, too. I keep on falling into the Nicene Creed out of habit from Mass.

I always keep two bookmarks in my missal -- one for the week's readings and one in the Nicene Creed section because I still don't know that part!

I was proud of myself when I was first able to say it in time with the other people (I kept messing up the beat of "one holy catholic and apostolic church") -- then I changed churches and the tempo changed! :D

I always say the Nicene Creed, but using 'I' instead of 'We'. I just like it better. :)

Tell me about it. It took me forever to 're-learn' the Gloria after we moved. Same words, different tune! :D And daily Mass still throws me off because the responses are spoken instead of sung. :)

I attend the chapel here on campus. We have a liturgical music program here so we get to learn several different versions of the Mass parts (Mass of Creation, Mass of Light, Missa Emmanuel, Mass in Rememberence of Joseph Cardinal Bernidin, etc).

I go to the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. I am definitely glad that I chose to go to a Catholic university because it has given me an opportunity to learn about the Church and nurture my faith.

What is really cool is Fr. Micheal Joncas (composer of "On Eagle's Wings" among many other hymns) teaches here and David Haas (another composer of hymns) is an alumni. It means that the liturgical choir gets some pieces composed especially for them.
