  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

All,
As we all know, the Rosary is so much more than the "vain repetition" which it is called by the the uninitiated. The Sacred Mysteries of our faith which we meditate on as we pray, are so deep and meaningful. I'd like to open this thread as a place to share the fruit of our reflections on various Mysteries of the Rosary...

Joyful:
The Anunciation (Luke 1:28)
The Visitation (Luke 1:41-42)
The Birth of Jesus (Luke 2:7)
The Presentation (Luke 2:22-23)
Finding the Child Jesus in the Temple (Luke 2:46)

Sorrowful:
The Agony in the Garden (Luke 22:44-45)
The Scourging at the pillar (John 19:1)
The Crowning with Thorns (Matthew 27:28-29)
Carrying the Cross (John 19,17)
The Crucifixion (Luke 23:46)

Glorious:
The Resurrection (Mark 16:6)
The Ascension (Mark 16:19)
The Decent of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4)
The Assumption (Judith 15:9-10)
The Coronation (Rev. 12:1)

Since today, we pray the Luminous mysteries, I will share an observation on the Wedding Feast a Cana.

His mother said to the servers, "Do whatever he tells you." (John 2:5)

This is such a powerful moment! We do not have much in scripture to tell us about Mary.. certaintly not as much as some of us would like.
I think the reason the Holy Spirit inspired John to record this, is because it shows us the first (well second really..) time Mary interceded for us.
This is so powerful, because God did something that He was not going to do, Because Mary requested it on our behalf.

Mary, Mother of God, Pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, AMEN

PS: for those of you wondering what the first time Mary Interceded for us was, it is Luke 1:38 "let it happen to me as you have said"

What strikes me in the first joyful mystery is Our Lady's instant willingness for the Lord's will to be done. In that time, it was basically social suicide to bear a child out of wedlock. In fact, it could possibly mean death. Even if stoning was escaped, she would undoubtedly be shunned and Joseph would have nothing more to do with her. She would have been a disgrace to her family as welll. But in the face of all this, she faltered not for an instant.
This is such a tremendous example for us today in an age where our own intellects and desires are so idolized in society and the will of God is not the priority it should be. Our Lady, a paragon of piety.
