I'm not sure what the rules are about praying certain Rosary mysteries on certain days during Lent. I know that changes are made to the Mysteries said on certain days of the week, but I'm not sure how much of this is custom and how much is set by some form of Church laws.

The reason I need to know is because I want to start a Rosary Novena today that will end the day before my wedding (Apr. 2nd) and last through Lent. However, the Rosary has four sets of mysteries (Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, and the more recently added Luminous), which in the 54-day Novena are prayed in a rotating order.

This means that the Novena could (and will, and some point) end up with me praying the Glorious Mysteries on a Friday during Lent.

Is this a problem? :(
If so, can I "fudge" it by changing the order of the mysteries?
Finally, should I include the Luminous Mysteries in the Novena? I've seen versions on the 'Net both with and without, and would like recommendations.

If I could have some answers by Ash Wednesday, I would greatly appreciate it.

I'll say a short prayer for each person who posts on this thread!
(Yes, I am resorting to bribery :p )

Thanks for your help. Oh, and I'm glad to be back again (gotta quit disappearing on you guys)!

 Congrats on your upcoming wedding!
I have to admit, that I dont stick to the days as rigidly as the New Advent site says...I tend to sometimes switch depending on what the day has or possibly will hold- I often end up saying the sorrowful Mysteries if I know the day is going to be difficult, as I find it helps me focus on what is really important for that day. But rotating the Mysteries as it suggests is a good way to keep the Gospel story continually alive in your heart and mind.
The only other thing I was taught was that in Lent, to say the sorrowful mysteries on a Sunday, in Advent, the joyful and the rest of the year, the Glorious.

Thank you, all! DreamTheater specifically, thanks for the lovely link - that .pdf will either find itself on my fridge, or I'll clip the list of mysteries off of it and put them in my wallet for "emergencies". Y'know, in case I need to pray a Rosary away from home - which is likely to happen, when working through a Novena. Last time, I ended up praying the Rosary in a bar one night . . . I think it was my 21st birthday . . . it was the first time all day I had 20 minutes free and my Rosary handy.

As far as the Mysteries associated with the days of the week:

The Rosary Novena doesn't follow the same pattern of prayer; the idea is to pray the entire Rosary (all Mysteries) nine times for the petition, and nine times in thanksgiving for the petition (trusting that your petition has been or will be granted). To accomplish this using the 54-day version (one set of mysteries per day), you go through them like this:

1st day: Joyful Mysteries
2nd day: Sorrowful
3rd day: Glorious
4th day: Joyful
5th day: Sorrowful
.
.
.

This way, you say the entire Rosary every three days. The question is, how important is it to avoid saying the Glorious Mysteries on Sundays/Fridays during Lent? Is it similar to avoiding Alleluias during Lent? I want to do "the right thing" here, even if it is a technicality. What can I say? I'm a stickler for rules!
